Slow motion videos can be found very common in film-making. Most of the flagship smartphones nowadays support slow motion capture, such as Samsung Galaxy S9, S8, S7, S6, S5, S4, Moto X, LG G2, G3, G4, G5, G6, HTC One, Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X are capable of recording videos in slow motion. However we found that the slow motion video recording on different phones work differently. For example iPhone slo-mo video capture is very different from Samsung Galaxy phone slow-motion video recording.

How to record slow motion video on iPhone?

Note that you have to be using an iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6 plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, so if you have an older iPhone device, you’re out of luck. For earlier iPhone models, you need to use a third party app for that.

Open up the Camera app on iPhone, the Camera app automatically loads on the Photo recording by default, if so you can swipe to the right twice to reveal the Slo-Mo option and enable slow motion mode on iPhone. It is abbreviated as Slo-Mo on iPhone. See below screenshot.

To record slow motion video on iPhone, tap on the big red shutter button to start capturing video in slow motion, press the same button again to stop recording. The slow motion taken will be saved to your Camera Roll. You can view, manage or transfer the slow motion videos along with other photos and videos. How does slow motion video work on iPhone?

Slow motion video recording is achieved when each frame is captured at a rate much faster than it will be played back. Camera app on iPhone 5S can record the slow motion video at 120FPS. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will capture slow motion videos at a high frame rate of 240FPS. How to edit slow motion video on iPhone?

iPhone not only allows you to take slow motion videos, it also comes with the capability to edit videos recorded in slow motion mode. You can select all or any part of your video to be in slow motion mode, while increase the playback speed of the rest. For example, you can make the first part of the video to be play in normal speed, the second half in slow mode mode. Open the slow motion video playback window, you will see a timeline toward the top, just below the video playback process bar. There will be two markers in this timeline, you can drag and drop them to any part of the timeline to start and stop the slow motion video. You can also export videos from iPhone to computer, then use other desktop video editors to edit your iPhone videos.
