All Android mobiles, like Samsung, HTC, Sony, Motorola smartphones, have a feature called Factory Data Reset. In this article, we will explain what will Factory Data Reset do? When would we need to perform Factory Reset on our mobile phones? What can we to if we want to get back or recover data after Factory Reset on our Android smartphones?

This feature is to erase all device settings, user data, third party apps, and associated application data. Basically it is a software restore of your mobile to its original system state. When you perform a Factory Reset on Android device, you will return the mobile or tablet to the condition it was in when shipped from the factory. Android Factory Reset can wipe any data from an Android device’s internal flash storage, thus you will lose any info saved in the internal memory, like contacts, messages, call logs, photos, videos, music files, documents, etc. Factory reset usually does not erase data or applications stored on external or removable storage. However you may have the option associated to erase the external storage of your mobile as well.

There are many situations you would need to use Factory Reset to erase data on your mobile phones. For example, when you plan to sell your Samsung Galaxy S5 or S4 with lots of personal data on it. When your HTC Desire or HTC One becoming very slow and you can’t fix it with other possible solutions. When you find your Sony, Nexus phone or LG phone freezes frequently and you have little chance of fixing it using other methods. Maybe wiping the phone clean and get a fresh start is the best overall option sometimes.

How to recover Android mobile data after Factory Reset without backups?

In this case, you need a third-party data rescue software. We recommend Dr.Fone for Android, the World’s first Android mobile data recovery tool in the market. You can find more details about this mobile data recovery for Android here. We will show you the easy steps to use this Android data recovery application to get back your lost data on your Android phones, like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony, LG, smartphones. These recoverable data include your mobile contacts, text messages, call history, gallery & photos, videos, audio and music files, documents, etc. Your mobile settings however can’t be recovered, such as ringtone, keypad tones, and display settings, these will be reset to the default settings, you will still need to manually customize them if like.

Steps to recover data after Factory Reset without backups

Important Tips:

  • Stop using your Android mobile phone for now, as new data saving to your phone will overwrite those deleted data and make them unrecoverable. Those deleted data will be saved somewhere in your memory, although invisible, they are waiting to be overwritten by new data, so to get them back with this Android data recovery program, you need to avoid data overwriting.
  • You can download the free trial version on to your Mac or PC. This version allows you to scan your mobile phone and preview lost data, it however does not support data recovery from phone to computer. You need to buy the full version in order to recover data.
  • Try before you buy. There is no guarantee that it will work for all phones. So only if you are satisfied with the trial version, should you consider to buy the full version.

★ Step 1. Run Android Recovery on your Windows or Mac computer. You can download it if not yet from below link.

★ Step 2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. You can refer to this guide to turn on the USB debugging on an Android mobile phone.

★ Step 3. Connect your Android phone or tablet to computer via USB. The Android Phone Recovery will identify, analyze your smartphone or tablet first, you can then use it to scan your Android device.

★ Step 4. All recoverable data found will be display and grouped in to different categories like below. You will be able to recover lost or deleted contacts, text messages, WhatsApp messages and attachments, photo galleries, videos, audio and music, documents, etc. See below screenshot.

    Hi,

I recently dropped my phone and cracked the screen. After which, the password pattern didn’t get recognized (screen’s input mechanism was messed up). I entered the password wrong many times, which resulted in a forced factory reset of my LG G2 (Android v5.0.2). Since, then I have not updated the device or even used it. After searching online, for hours and hours, I have mixed feelings about chances of data being recovered. Does the tool you recommend work for such a scenario?

If it does not work, are there other, more advanced methods I could try?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Matt

This method requires you to have USB debugging enabled on the phone already. It is an option under Developer Options on Android phones. If this setting is not activated yet, it can not help you.

      • Umar

        Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply. The phone is operational. I have turned on the USB debugging. However, my question is that whether I’ll be able to get anything off the device since it was factory reset. And a lot of online forums/tools support say that, there is NO hope for data recovery after a factory reset. I am wondering if you think the same?

        • Matt

          your welcome.
The chance is slim. currently no recovery software can guarantee it will work. we are working hard to improve the performance of this tool.

          • Umar

Fair enough. I want to give it a shot. So is this the same tool as Dr. Fone for Android by Wondershare or is it different? Thanks.

Hi. I have lost all my data after the factory reset. I do not have any backup and I have done a few updates after that. Please advise if it is still possible for me to recover my lost data. Thanks.

    • Matt

You can try the above android phone data recovery solution. there is a chance you can get back lost data. You can try your luck, there is no guarantee though.

i accidently did factory reset and everything is gone, i’m mainly concerned about my WhatsApp messages as they had some important info in them. So the factory reset deleted the WhatsApp program, should i re-install WhatsApp first then run your recovery software, or run the software first then re-install WhatsApp?
    Thanks!

    • Matt

You can refer to this tutorial to recover deleted WhatsApp messages from Android phone.
There are different ways to retrieve WhatsApp chats. Since the re-install method can only restore chats from the last 7 days and by re-installing, you may actually overwrite those deleted data on mobile phone, we suggest you to download the recovery software on to a computer and use it to scan WhatsApp data on the phone first. You can refer to above linked page for more details.

    hi matt..!
my phone model is Qmobile android 4.2.2 version …how can i restore my call log history because by mistake without creating a backup i reset my phone 2 months ago .. now i need some important incoming call history ..

    • Matt

you can download the above data recovery software for android phone on to your computer, then connect up your phone to computer and use the recovery software to scan your phone for lost data on it. Call log history is a supported data type, you have the chance to get them back. However since the data was deleted long time ago, the chance is slim though.

After I reset the data factor in galaxy note 3 n900 And than I have switch on my phone but it shows only the Samsung logo. What shall I do now????

    • Matt

Do you want to recover data or just fix the mobile system issue so the phone can work normally?
If you want to fix the mobile system issue only, you can try power off the phone, wait for several minutes, then power on again see if any help. If still no luck, you can enter the recovery mode of your phone and perform a hard reset from there. To do that, you can google “galaxy note 3 hard reset” or follow below steps outlined. Note that you will lost all your personal files on the phone after hard reset and they are not recoverable!
      1. power off the Galaxy Note 3;
      2. Press and hold Volume Up + Home+Power keys at the same time;
      3. When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
      4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
      5. Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
      6. Press Power button to select.
      7. Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
      8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
      9. Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

I’ve accidently dropped my LG Optimus L7 phone in water, the phone is still working but it got restored and i lost all the data’s like contact messages etc.. I have tried with Dr. fone but couldn’t find anything. Please let me know if there is a way to get my contacts back.

    • Matt

Do you have any email account set up on the phone before, like a Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo mail? If so, you may log in your email account from web browser and see if you can retrieve contacts and phone numbers from there. Normally when you set up an email account on the phone, by default the option to sync contacts will be enabled.

  8. deox19

i did clear user data and wipe phone without backup and now my smartphone doest work!! i think the boot file are missing!! what i can do now?? my smartphone is lenovo x2 pro!!

    • Matt

will you still be able to enter the normal Android system on the phone? If the system crashed, this software can’t help you retrieve data from the phone.

  9. LB

The software won’t root the phone either. Which I did upgrade and paid for……. it gave no indication it would not work, or else I would have tried another recovery software.

    • Matt

Can you please specify your specific phone model number and android version? Also please send us a screenshot of the error if any through email. Alternatively you can also send us the log files and describe the issue you met within the recovery software, so our technician can look into this issue.

  10. LB

I have a Samsung s5. How long should it stay in the analyzing device part of process? I has been sitting here at 99% for over two hours now?

If it doesn’t pass this part is my phone now unusable???

    • Matt

Generally speaking it should take only several minutes to analyze the device. You get stuck in the analyzing process because the software failed to analyze your device. You can stop or close the software, restart it again, optionally disconnect your phone and reconnect again. Try to scan your phone see if any update. If still no luck, you can find more troubleshooting tips here.

If it doesn’t pass this part, you may consider to root your phone first or find other mobile phone recovery software. By rooting however you may void its warranty and there is no guarantee you can get the lost data back after rooting. So do it at your own risk.

    Hello

My phone is HTC Sensation XE and it keeps rebooting after the home screen is showed up ……. will this software backup the data if the phone is turned off?

    • Matt

If you have turned on USB debugging on the phone before, you can use this mobile phone recovery software to scan your phone and back up data from phone to computer. It can’t help you backup data from phone when the phone is turned off.

  12. hermanita lee

Thank you

    • Matt

what’s your specific phone model number and Android version please?
Do you mean you cannot enter into the normal Android system on the phone any more?
From what you have described above, the chance to get back your personal data from the phone could be very slim.

  13. Shoaib

I got my HTC M8 reset by mistake.. I didn’t use that phone since that day.. is there any option to recover my pictures and videos without rooting my phone?

    • Matt

The Android phone recovery software will firstly root your phone before recovering data from it. But when you finished recovery, it will automatically remove root from the phone.

      • Shoaib

Then can you send me the link where I can install the appropriate software for my HTC M8? and to root my phone? and one more thing.. do I need to buy that software then from where? if I need only for Android recovery?
I will appreciate your elaborated reply..

        • Matt

You can download the free trial version on to your computer, connect up your phone via USB, then use the recovery software to scan your phone, preview and recover data from it. You can follow this step-by-step guide to recover data from HTC mobile phones. The trial version allows you to scan phones and preview data. Only when you are sure it can find the lost files you want to retrieve, should you consider to buy it (You can buy a license and register it within the software). As there is no guarantee it will work for your phone 100%.

    Hi Matt,

I had reset my tab last month without knowing that I haven’t used the backup option.
i am using motorola xoom MZ604. I want my gallery back. plz Help???

    • Matt

You can download the trial version of above android phone recovery on to your computer, and give it a shot. If the data was deleted a month ago and you have being using the phone, chances are many of those deleted files may have been overwritten by new files thus you can’t get them back. Generally speaking when you find any data loss you should stop using the device to avoid data overwriting and recover them as soon as possible.

sorry for the inconvenience. the above mobile phone recovery does not support Nokia Symbian phones.
If you have micro SD installed, you can power off the phone, then take out the sd card and install it on a new phone see if your data can still be found on it. You can also refer to this guide to recover files and data from SD card.

  18. Nitha

Hi, I’m using Lenovo S90. Factory reset has done for my phone I didn’t make any backup. I had tried this software to recover all the data but it was unsucessful. Its state there ‘please root your device’. Did u hav any idea how to root the device. Please help me to solve this problem. My Android is KitKat

    • Matt

The mobile phone data recovery software has the built-in temporary rooting tool to root the phone automatically. It however does not work for all Android phones. In such case, you need to root the phone using third party tools, such as this free Android root. Before you root the phone, please note:
      1. by rooting the device, you just grant the phone recovery software the access to scan your phone. it does not mean you will get back the deleted data. still there is a chance you may not recover any or all data from the phone. Especially in this case, you are using Lenovo S90, we have not tested the Android phone recovery software with this phone model yet.
      2. you may void the phone warranty by rooting.

Hi im using a Tecno P5 and its rooted. well when i follow the process it later tells me that it cannot restore messages yet thats what i preffered most. pliz help

    • Matt

Do you mean it can find the lost messages in the scanning process?
The free trial version allows you to scan your phone and preview the lost data. In order to recover deleted data from phone to computer, you will need to buy the full version. After that you will get your license code to register the trial version and get the full version.

  20. Willy

I did factory reset for my phone and since then i have been unable to transfer files from the phone to a desktop through a USB cable. Kindly help.

    • Matt

when you connect your phone to computer through USB cable, can your computer detect your phone connection? if you are using a PC, you can open Windows Explorer on the computer to access your phone and copy data from phone’s storage to you computer hard drive directly.

  21. parnoon khan

i am unable to recover data..
they were asking about lisenced email ..how to get it?

    • Matt

you can download the free trial version above which only allows to scan the mobile phone and preview the found data in the scan process. This helps users to test the software before they buy the full version. In order to actually recover the found data from android phone to computer, you can buy a license from this page. After that, you will get an order confirmation email with your license name and code included. You can use the license name/code to register the trial version and thus get the full version of this mobile phone data recovery software.

However many factors can prevent it from working properly, like firmware version, hardware, OEM patching, compilation settings, third-party software or apps, etc. you can refer to this troubleshooting page see if any help, or submit the log files to us so our technician can look into the issue further.

  27. Jay

So I just pd $52.00 for this program/app for my lg volt and it did not restore anything that was on my phone before the reset! As if I were not angry enough this just made it that much worse!!
    Can anyone help? Please?

    • Matt

      hi Jay,
Normally we suggest users try this software before they buy as it may or may not be able to recover the lost data from mobile phones. the trial version can also scan the phone and preview the found data, so you can decide to buy or the full version or not. In this case, you can keep the software for the use in future, you can also submit a refund request and explain the issue in it. You can check your order confirmation email which has the info about how to proceed. If still need further assistance, please contact us via email to get prompt response.

  29. Jenifer

    Hi Matt,
I unfortunately had my phone reset to factory settings. I have a Galaxy s5, I am trying to use the software now. I have run it several times, I get to the Device ready to scan portion, it states that the Device Mode Verification Unsuccessfully, then it moves on to Analyzing the Device, yet at this point it goes back to the beginning and I am not sure what to do at this point. Please help I really want my pictures and text messages back if I can get them. Thank you.

    • Matt

      Hi Jenifer,
If the mobile phone data recovery software can’t verify your device mode, you may need to root the phone by yourself before you can use the recovery software to scan your phone and recover data. By rooting your phone however you may void your phone warranty.
      sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Hi,

i own a xiaomi HM 1SW that runs on android 4.4 and have it recently factory reset and lost all my data. i’ve tried your software and i cant seem to be able to recover any of my files. it seems that it might be due to : ” device mode verification unsuccessfully”. I was wondering if you would be able to help me? Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Rachel

    • Matt

      Hi Rachel,
we have not tested this Android phone recovery with xiaomi HM 1SW yet. Based on feedback from other users, the current version of this phone recovery does not work well for this phone model.

Hi..I have deleted watsapp chat and also deleted files from watsapp database (msgstore.)…can these chats be recovered
    …I have android phone

    • Matt

The above data recovery solution does not require you have the backup files saved. The above android phone recovery software scan recover deleted whatsapp chats without backups.

Also if the watsapp database files (msgstore.) saved on SD card, you can try this solution to recover deleted files from SD card.

You need to purchase the full version in order to recover or export those deleted data from mobile phone. You can buy the full version from this link. Make sure to select the right version, either Mac or Windows, according to your computer OS. After that, you will receive the license name and code through email. 36. steven

So I didn’t backup nothing on my galaxy s4 before I hit backup and reset. But the only reason I did that is BC someone went in to my phone and erasesd all my cookies from my gs4 and I opened up my phone and it was going crazy with Google has stopped working. All I want is to be able to start over with it and I don’t know where to start at

    • jack

You may try to back up all your personal data, pics, contacts, messages and so forth, then do a factory reset on the phone. Factory data reset can return your device to its factory defaults. This action permanently erases ALL data from the device, including Google or other account settings, system and application data and settings, apps, all your personal documents, etc.
This method however requires a lot of work and you have the risk of data loss if not properly handled. If you are not comfortable with that, you can contact Samsung Service Centre for assistance.

  37. Jim

Will this app work on an unrooted Android DNA?

    • Matt

it has the automatic temporary rooting feature built-in. it will firstly root your device before recovery, and remove root from your device after recovery.

  38. cece

    Hi dr Phone,
After connecting my phone (Samsung GS4, Lollipop 5.0.1) and running the process, it came up with the message that I need to root my phone, and I don’t want to void the warranty by rooting.

    • Matt

      hi,
      you can try:
      1. restart the data recovery software on your computer;
      2. disconnect and re-connect your phone through USB;
      3. close unnecessary software or apps on computer or mobile phone;
you can find more troubleshooting tips here.

    • Matt

we have not tested the mobile phone data recovery software with this Samsung core prime model yet.
please send us your log files and database files from the recovery software (see this screenshot), so our engineers can look into this issue.

Hi there i am using a samsung galaxy S5, I have done a factory reset however I was sure i backed upwith my google account and cloud. I have lost everything an cannot retrieve it. My most important things are my contacts, text messages, whatsapp messages and my notes. All for work purposes. I have followed the instructions and when it comes to analyzing device it just switches off my phone and restarts it doesnt work and I dont know what to do?
There are no FAQ’s and troubleshooting for this problem! 🙁

    • Matt

you can try to root the phone first, then use our data recovery to scan your phone see if any update. note that you may void your warranty by rooting. our data recovery software for mobile phones works better with rooted devices, but this is not a guarantee though. By rooting you simply increase the success rate of data recovery. Still there is a chance you can’t recover those deleted data after that. See more details from this post: recover deleted data from rooted phones.

    Hi
I scanned my Samsung S3mini after factory reset was accidentally done without backup, with the advanced scan in trial version it could only find photos and videos, does it mean my messages won’t be retrieved and are lost forever?

    • Matt

Yes. It can not retrieve what it can find in the scanning process. In this case, you may only be able to recover photos and videos. However if you like to retrieve messages, you can give it another try by selecting only Messaging before scan so as to scan for text messages only. If still no luck, I am afraid the messages are lost forever.

    Hi,

I bought the registered version of dr fone software by cresit card, and got registration code but after that still it is scanning files in MBs, some gallery pics and some documents only and call history. where is my other data? i did not use my phone after factory data reset. i am following all your instructions as per guide but still why it is not retrieving atleast 50% of the data.

    • Matt

      Hi,
We have been working to improve its performance and increase the success rate of data recvery. However it may not be able to find and recover all deleted data 100% from mobile phones. You can try to enable ‘Advanced mode’ before scanning see if any help. Prior to scan your phone, you can choose the scanning modes between Standard and Advanced.

  45. saurav

Sir I have using Samsung galaxy note 3 neo what can I do to recover my contacts? I have done factory data reset. please help me

  46. Yas

I have a Verizon Samsung S6, and it has gone through a factory reset. I’m trying to use your Dr.Fone software to recover lost pictures and videos but the Dr.Fone software wont get past 2. Identify your Device step, even after 20 attempts. It keeps taking me to the steps to turn on USB debugging even though I have followed that procedure before. I’ve tried clicking on the “Opened Next” button but all it does it goes up to 70% before it kicks me back to the previous menu…

What can I do to help me proceed to step 3. Device Ready to Scan?

    • Matt

we have received similar feedback from other Galaxy S6 users as well. For most of them, the issue was caused due to the temporary rooting feature within the mobile phone recovery failed. As of now, the built-in rooting tool does not work well for galaxy s6. We will fix this issue in the future. A workaround for now would be unlock the phone using a third-party rooting software. You can find more info about it from this android phone data recovery troubleshooting page.
      sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Thanks Matt for reply,

I have followed above steps on app wondershare dr. fone for android, while trying to alternative device anlyzing that time app is stuck on 90 and processing but not go beyond 90 percent, also showing anylyzing device failed, Please help me sms is important for me.

    • Matt

      You are welcome.
In the analyzing process, the data recovery software will try to root the phone using its built-in temporary rooting tool, so as to recover as much data as possible. (If it can unlock your phone, you will proceed to the scanning process and recover deleted data after that. When you finished recovery, the data recovery software will remove root from your phone. ) This however may fail sometimes just like any other rooting software. Currently no rooting solution can work with all Android phones. in such case, you may need to unlock android using third party software. Note that rooting only increase the chance of successful recovery, it is not a guarantee. And you may void the warranty of the phone or the hardware. We have talked about this issue in this Android data recovery guide, scroll down to the troubleshooting section for the details.

    Hi,

I have done factory reset before 2 days and installed whatsup and i lost sms, i Want sms, can this possible.

Please help me, Its very important for me. I am using micromax mad A194

  51. cristian

Does NOT work! I tried it on my galaxy s4 at&t version, android version 4.4.4, after factory reset, it only “recovered” some stock media files that are installed on the os and one text message that I received after reset. It couldn’t find any of my old data. I almost bought it before trying it, thank God I didn’t! Waste of time.

    • Matt

      Hi, thanks for the feedback.
It can recover deleted data only if they have not been overwritten by new data saved on the phone. If you performed a hard reset on the phone or the data was overwritten by new data, you can’t get them back.
You are right, always try before you buy, that’s why we only offer the download links in the above article so readers can download the free version and test it out before they buy.

  52. muaaz

hey !!! when it starts recover its gives an error saying scan incomplete please replug your device and rescan i have tried this twice but the error is still there what should i do help !

    • Matt

What’s your phone model number and Android version please?
How about the timing and percentage of scanning process when it errors out? Can you send us a screenshot through email?
Meanwhile you can try below tips see if any help:
      1. disconnect and reconnect your phone;
      2. close unnecessary app on phone, unnecessary software on PC;
      3. restart the recovery software on computer;
      4. instead of selecting all support file types (contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, etc.), select just one file type each time and recover, then select another file type and recover….
      5. do not use the phone for any other purpose during the scanning;
      6. keep the phone screen active during the scanning, not to have it locked;
      7. if you have SD card in the phone, try to uninstall and pop it out, so as to scan only the internal memory of your phone first;
      8. you can find more android phone recovery troubleshooting tips here.

    Hi,
I want to recover data from internal memory after factory reset from Dell Venue 7 running android 4.4.2 , but when i connect my tablet software won’t detect it. USB Debugging in on. Can this software recover that data?

    Thanks,

    • Matt

      Hi,
we have not tested Dell Venue 7 running android 4.4.2 yet. It has been tested to be working fine with earlier Dell Venue running on Android 2.3.5, 4.3.
A new version has just been released, you can delete your current installation, and download it again from above article. Please give it a shot see if any help.

my lenovo tab is rooted and accidentally play store was uninstall so I has to restore my tab but still play store didn’t show up.help plz

    • Matt

This android recovery software does not support Android apps recovery, if the android apps on mobile phone was deleted, you have to re-download them again from Google Play Store. If the Play Store app was uninstalled, you may search for the Play Store app installer (apk file) from a respectable site, download this apk file onto your computer, copy it to your mobile phone or tablet through USB connection, install it on the android device.

  55. Billy

    Hi
Just wondering if this software will work with a Samsung galaxy s6 anytime soon? And if so would you have any idea roughly when?
    Many thanks

    • Matt

      Hi,
It is in our engineers’ working schedule at the current stage, unfortunately we do not have the approximate time when it will be available. I can put your email in to our notification list, so you will receive an email when the update is available.

  56. Gulnaz Badamia

Hi tried the free version but I can’t find anything I am really tense I am ready to buy the full but only if it recovers it is only giving me email contacts no phone contacts no gallery pics what should I do I am really tense the most important thing fr me is pics became they r of my daughter is Samsung S3
    Model number GT-19300
    Android veraion-4.3
    Baseband-19300XXUGNA8

    • Matt

      Hi,
The only difference between the free version and full version is the recovery feature can only be found in the full version. If you can’t find the deleted data using the free version, you will not find them using the full version neither. In this case, it seems some of your deleted data has been overwritten, thus the recovery software can not find them. Since the free version of this mobile phone recovery did not find the files you like to retrieve, do not buy the full version.
Do you have SD card installed on the phone? If so, you can uninstall the MicroSD card and follow this guide to recover deleted files from SD card. This solution however can’t recover data from the phone’s internal storage.
      Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

  57. Aparna Karattukudy

    Hi Matt,
I made a silly mistake and kept putting in the wrong pattern to unlock my phone because I was half asleep, and the phone has sent me to a backup pin number I don’t remember at all. So now my only option it seems like is to do a factory reset. So if I do what it says above after I factory reset, will I be able to get what all I had on my phone back?

    • Matt

      Hi Aparna,
Sorry to hear that you lost the pin number.
Our mobile phone data recovery software can only recover deleted data that lost due to the accidental software factory reset from your mobile phone settings. If you perform a hard reset on the Android device by pressing the hardware buttons which will erase the phone, our data recovery software can’t retrieve those deleted data.
In this case, we hope you can retrieve the pin number and the backup created in Google server, backups saved with any cloud storage or your own computer. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

  58. Lucian

    Hi Matt,
I’ve rooted my phone. (When I go into bootloader it is now written unlocked).
But it would still not work 🙁 same message as before.
I really don’t want to give up as all my daughter’s first year of life pics and videos were/are on the device.

After factory reset I havent installed anything and I didnt make any new pic or video, i haven’t even saved any contact.
When I’ve rooted my phone it made another factory reset thow, but I still think that the memory block were the pics and video are stored was not flashed, so the data is still there, at least I hope so

Could you please advice me to try anything else?

    • Matt

      Hi Lucian,

Bootloader unlock is different from android rooting. you can refer to this guide for further info about it. You can also find tools to root HTC from this linked article.

You should avoid new data saving or repeat factory reset, as they may overwrite those deleted data, make them UNRECOVERABLE.

Do you have installed SD card on the phone, if so you can also follow this guide to recover data from SD card.

  59. Lucian

    Hi,
I’ve just tried the software on my HTC M8
    and I got this :
.”currently data recovery from your device can not be supported. If you still want to recover your data, please root your device first.”

Do I really need to root my HTC M8?

    • Matt

Based on our test, the Android phone recovery works well with HTC M8x, HTC M8Sx, HTC M8MINx that is running on various Android versions like 4.4.2, 4.4.4, 5.0.2. However it might not work with certain devices even if they are the same phone. Many different reasons can affect it, like your firmware version, Android version, hardware, carrier, OEM patching, etc.

To root your device you might be able to recover data from your HTC M8, still you might fail. This is not a guarantee. See more details here: Can I recover deleted data from my phone after rooting?

    Samsung Galaxy Young 2

    Anyone?

    DP

    • Matt

Hi, based on our in-house test, the Android phone recovery software works well with Galaxy Young model GT-S6310 and GT-S6312.
You can stop the scanning process and start over again see if any update if it gets stuck somewhere for too long.
Other quick tips might also help, such as disconnect and reconnect your phone through USB, restart the Android recovery software.

  61. alex

    hi

i have downlaoded the software successfully but its saying it cant detect my Samsung S5? is there anything else i can try other than whats stated? thanks

    Hi
I have a Samsung galaxy s6 but when trying to recover I get “Currently data recovery from your device can not be supported. If you still want to recover your data, please root your phone”.
I tried rooting my phone but ended up with a message on the bootup screen “recovery is not seandroid enforcing” and could do no more (basically it would boot to this screen and nothing more). I managed to get out of that by flashing the firmware to 5.1.1. Tried Dr. Fone again but still no joy (so the rooting obviously failed). I’m reluctant to try rooting again due to the issue I had last time. Is there any other way I can get Dr. Fone to work ?
    thanks

    • Matt

      Hi,
thanks for your feedback. sorry for the inconvenience caused. Referring to your case, we regret to tell you that the present version of this Android recovery software can’t help. It comes with the rooting feature which can automatically root the phone before recovery and unroot it after recovery. For now, the built-in root tool does not work with your phone, if the phone can’t get rooted using any third party root program neither, Dr. Fone will not be able to recover data from it.

  63. Edgar

I cannot access to my Moto X first gen, due a OS issue, I´m able to do a factory reset but I’m worried to lost my movies and pictures, please confirm if the software works with Motorola XT1058 and Android 5.1…. thanks

    • Matt

Based on our in-house test, the mobile phone recovery software works with Moto X model XT1058 which is running on Android versions like 4.4, 4.4.2, 4.4.3, 4.4.4, 5.0.2, 4.2.2. We have NOT tested it with Motorola XT1058 that is running on Android 5.1 yet. Another issue is that the mobile data recovery can’t recover deleted data after the hard reset of your phone. That’s to say if you do a hard factory reset without entering the normal Android mobile OS, our data recovery software can’t help you with the data recovery.

    • Matt

      Hi ViCi,
first of all make sure you have downloaded the latest version (V5.4) of the data recovery software above. You can try close unnecessary software on your computer, then restart the recovery software, disconnect and re-connect your Redmi phone through USB, give it another shot see if any update.
You can also find more troubleshooting tips here.

Hey so after I reset my phone to factory settings I tried turning on my mobile data to use the Internet and it says that I have to have Wi – Fi to use the Internet so is there any way to reset that

    • Matt

You can try turning mobile data off and back on, if still no luck, try turning the phone off and back on see if any help.
Normally when you reset an Android phone to factory settings, the network configuration should have already been reset. And I noticed that many Android phones do not have a separate option to reset network or internet settings, unlike in iPhone.

  68. jennifer

Thanks! Ill try the link. I have a Galaxy S5 and it doesnt support those files.

    • Matt

      you are welcome.
It seems MP3 is currently still the dominant consumer audio format in Android world. M4A is a very common audio format for Apple and iOS devices. I tried to export several music downloaded from iTunes store from iPhone to computer, and found they are all in m4a format.

  69. jennifer

The music files are showing as M4A files. Is it possible to recover info stored on my memory card?

    • Matt

Like MP3, the M4A is another very popular audio format. Personally I have many songs in m4a format on my iPhone and I use iTunes on my PC to play them. You can also follow this link to use iTunes to convert music to MP3 if like.
Yes, you can also use this mobile phone recovery to recover data such as photos, videos from memory card of your phone. Alternatively, you can also try this guide to recover data from SD cards. This data recovery software (the trial version) allows you to recover up to 100MB data for completely free.

  70. Ivan

Hi, I haven’t seen anything related to galaxy note 4. Can I use the one for s5, s6 instead? Thanks.

    • Matt

You can give it a shot, it is free to download and try. There are many aspects can affect this such as phone model, build number, your carrier, Android version, OEM patching, etc.
For example, we have tested it to be working well for Samsung Galaxy Note 4, various models like SM-N910, SM-N9100, SM-N9106W, SM-N9108V, SM-N910C, SM-N910F, SM-N9100, SM-N910G, SM-N910H, SM-N910K, SM-N910L, SM-N9150, SM-N915FY, and even more. But we can’t test all galaxy Note 4 variants or guarantee it will work for all note 4 devices. You should give a shot to the free trial version before you pay for the full version.

  71. jennifer

I recently purchased your product. However the only thing i could recover were pictures. I cant open any music files and my documents are in a format that i dont understand. The only contacts it recognized were the few that were saved to my sd card. Please help!

    • Matt

      Hi,
It seems some of the deleted data on your mobile phone has been overwritten. That’s why you can recover some files but not all.
Can you please specify what are the file format(s) for the music files and documents you recovered?

  72. Jill Morrison

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and because of updated phone software causing severe battery draining and overheating of phone, I was advised to do a factory reset to correct this issue. Unfortunately, not realizing until it was too late that the stored info/pics/videos/music on my SD Memory card would become encrypted and/or corrupted and thus making pictures/videos on the SD card not viewable. On top of that, I’ve had to have my phone replaced under warranty on 3 different occasions due to faulty phones, and when I transferred SD card to the new phone, not only are the pics/videos etc. that were taken on the old phones prior to phone malfunctioning not viewable (not supported?), but the pictures/videos etc that were taken on the new phones, which were automatically stored on the SD card (same SD card in all 3 phones) also were not viewable in my gallery, and instead, each picture is just a square black box with gray outline of what appears to be a silhouette of mountains with an ! (exclamation mark) in middle of pictures. Hopefully, I’ve been able to correctly explain/outline the issues at hand in order for you to be able to discern whether or not your software/program would be useful in recovering these pictures/videos, etc. I would be incredibly grateful for any advice you may have concerning the recovery of these pictures. Thank you in advance for your time.

    • Matt

Samsung galaxy s5 has the built-in feature to encrypt or decrypt SD card so that requires a password be entered each time the microSD card is connected. In this case it seems your files on SD card have been erased during the phone reset.
If you want to retrieve the deleted media files or other files saved on SD card only, you can uninstall the SD card from your phone, connect it to computer with a card reader, then download another professional data recovery software to scan your micro SD card and recover data from it. For more details, refer to this guide to recover deleted files from SD cards. Please give it a shot, we’d like to hear your feedback after that.

Does it work with my tablet Nexus 7? I have tried, but at the Identification of device step, it just shows 60% analysis. What can I do now?

    • Matt

It should. Based on our test, the Android recovery software can recover deleted data from Nexus 7.
However this can’t guarantee it would work with all Nexus 7 devices. It also depends on many other configurations on your device. Please double check this Android recovery FAQs & troubleshooting page see if any help.

  74. Joshua M

Hi there, my computer won’t read my s6 when the software is running, any idea why or what to do?

    • Matt

What’s the specific phone model and Android version on your phone please?
Do you get any error message in this data recovery software?

  75. Glenna

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 that had an update to lollipop, everything was working fine except for the touch-wiz wouldn’t allow me to move apps around or place in the folder, so I backed everything up into my Google acct and Samsung acct. or at least I thought I did. I did a factory reset and lost all of my saved files from my Scribe app, all of my Screenshots, photo’s, photo downloads, etc. all of these were supposed to be saved on my SD Card, however they must not have been and were all saved to the internal memory. These were all extremely important data. Will I be able to recover and of these files, photo’s?

    • Matt

Yes. there is still a chance you can get them back.
First of all, you should stop using your phone as any data saved on it may overwrite those deleted data. Download the Android data recovery software on to your PC or Mac, then connect up your phone and use this file recovery software to scan your phone for the deleted data. Following are some tips might be helpful to you:
      1. If you find data on your SD card is not deleted, you can uninstall SD card from your phone then pop it out. This can prevent the Android file recovery software to scan your external storage and thus waste a lot of time.
      2. Select only file types you like to recover can speed up the scanning process. For example, if you want to recover only screenshots and photos, you can dis-select other file types like messages, call logs, contacts, etc.
      3. Enable advanced scan mode other than the standard mode if you can’t find the deleted files after scanning.
Please give it a shot and feel free to write back if any questions.

Will this work on a LG G2 verizon non rooted device that was just accidentally factory reset w/ no backups to be had. The phone was automatically reinstalling my apps. I stopped but 20 of about 179 were reinstalled are my chances of getting back my data slim?
    Device SPECS are:
    Manuf LGE
    Model VS980 4g
    android v 5.0.2
    build # lrx22g
32 GB of which 7GB was remaining prior to this user error

    • Matt

LG G2 VS980 is a supported LG phone model. You can download and use this mobile phone recovery on to your computer and use it to scan your LG G2 see if any deleted data can be found. Your data might have been overwritten partially during the reinstalling process, but still there is a chance you can recover most or part of the deleted data on your LG phone. It is worth a try!

  77. pakos

sry my device is samsung galaxy s3 mini thx

    • Matt

the Android phone recovery software works for many Samsung galaxy S3 models, such as GT-i9300, GT-I9300I, GT-I9300T, GT-I9305 and so on.

  78. pakos

Hello, after factory reset i lost all my phone contacts. Somehow they didnt restore from google. With the program i managed to recover them but i can only see names and no phone numbers. Also in half of my contacts i can only see uknown as a name. Pls help thx

    • Matt

It seems some of your data has been overwritten, thus you can only recover your contacts or phone numbers partially. You can try to scan the phone again see if any update.

  79. ruhaya

my phone is broke, display is totally gone. I have mistakenly pressed the red button(factory reset) on my sony xperia z1 so im afraid whether i could recover all my data back to mobile once after its repaired. would this software helps me to retrieve all my photos, videos, music and contacts?
would be very glad if you help me find solution for the above. 🙁

    • Matt

We have tested the Android recovery software to be working well for Sony xperia z1 model C6902 on various Android versions.
The problem at present is the USB debugging option. If you have turned this option on before, you can now turn on your Sony phone, download and install our mobile phone recovery software on to your computer, then connect up your phone through USB and use the recovery software to scan the phone and recover data from it.
If the USB debugging on your phone was not enabled, you will have to wait until your phone screen is fixed, you can then turn on this option and use our phone recovery software to retrieve data from it.

    Hi Matt.
    I have LENOVO K3 NOTE (LOLIPOP 5.0.2)

I tried to recover my pic which are very precious to me.
But it said it device may not be supported ,u need to root your device.

    Plz help
    Thnx in advance

    • Matt

Lenovo K3 Note is a very new phone model. We have not tested our data recovery software with this model yet.
However you can try to root the phone with a third party rooting software before using our recovery software to retrieve data from it. For the Android rooting tips, you can refer to my reply to @sujeet above.

  82. sujeet

Using moto g 2nd gen and tried dr fone but it says we need root access to recover ur data so how can i root my device and is it safe to do so, plz help will b thankful

    • Matt

Normally you do not need to root the phone manually. This Android phone recovery software can automatically root the phone before recovering data from it and when the recovery ends it will unroot the phone. You can google Android rooting to see what it will do to your phone. If you need a rooting software and instructions to root the phone, you can refer to this guide http://www.softwarert.com/root-android-phone/. We suggest you to root the phone from computer, other than downloading a rooting app, as saving any data to your phone may overwrite those deleted data on the phone and make them unrecoverable. If like, you can unroot the phone after the data recovery, see this guide to unroot Android phones.

I’m on the trial version of the software and it doesn’t go pass the “Analizing device…”, so no scan done yet. I’ve tried 4 times, and the software even goes through the ‘alternatives’. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Android 4.4.2) has been debugged as per instructions. I also tried the “Root in recovery mode”, which also failed.

I only want to get a handful of images, that Samsung Link failed to transfer, from when I did a factory reset 3 days ago.

Is there a way to successfully scan the device? or do I need to acquire the payed version of the software?

    • Matt

The mobile phone recovery software has been tested to be working fine with various Samsung Galaxy Note 3 models which is running on Android 4.X, such as SM-N900, SM-N9000, SM-N9006, SM-N9000Q, etc. What’s your phone model please? Was it rooted before?

You do not need to get the full version in order to scan the phone. The trial version allows users to scan their phones so they can decide whether to buy the full version or not. The full version can scan and recover deleted files, while the trial version can only scan the phone, that’s the only difference between them.
You can also take a look at this Android data recovery troubleshooting page see if any help.

      • Yiann

Matt, my phone hasn’t been rooted, as far as I know. Bought it from the shop a couple of years ago and never had anything done, until now. It is a SM-N9005. I’ve gone through all the instructions on troubleshooting. The ‘analizing device…’ has failed again and cannot scan, so I don’t see anything. I would pay for it but cannot see whether the software will work.

      • Yiann

For some reason my reply got deleted.
I have a SM-N9005 on o2 pay-and-go. After trying 10 times it finally scanned the phone but nothing on images/gallery/photos/pictures was shown to be recovered by the software. This is a dilemma as I understand that it is possible to retrieve data that has been deleted by factory reset. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. Thanks.

        • Matt

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 is a supported model.
If the data recovery finished scanning your phone but no images found, most likely the image files have been overwritten, thus the data recovery can’t find any of them. In such case, you should consider other solutions. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

what’s your operating system on the computer, Windows 7, 8 or else?

  87. Alan

My HTC One M7 accidentally factory resetted and I had a lot of important data on it. I followed the instructions on this page and now I am on the last step shown in step 4. However, it has been stuck on 92% for hours, I have tried multiple times disconnecting it and then replugging it back in and still no results. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

    • Matt

the mobile phone recovery software works better with rooted phones. You can try to root the phone see if any help. Make sure to install a rooting software on computer other than a rooting app on mobile phone, as saving any new data to the phone may overwrite those deleted files. You can find some rooting programs from this link: http://www.softwarert.com/root-android-phone/

  88. Alan

My HTC One M7 was recently factory reset on accident. I followed the instructions on this page (USB debugged my phone, installed the program on my computer, and plugged in my phone, etc.) but however my data has not been recovered yet. My phone has been analyzed and so on and now is on the last step shown like in the picture shown for step 4. It has been stuck at 92% for multiple times. After an hour or so I stopped it unplugged my phone and plugged it back in. It kept getting stuck at 92% and I have done this a few times. Now I let it go even longer, a few hours but still no progress. Do I need to buy the product to get my data back or is there something else wrong?

my phone causing os problem .how can I recover my all data in my mobile (photos, application datas, videos, contacts etc)
my phone Samsung galaxy s3 ..please help me.All datas are very important for my carrier/

    • Matt

This Android data recovery software supports various Galaxy S3 models, such as GT-I9300, GT-I9300I, GT-I9300T, GT-i9301, GT-I9305, etc.
You can download data recovery software on to your computer, enable USB debugging on Galaxy S3, then connect your phone to computer via USB, after that use the recovery software to scan your phone and recover data from it. For Galaxy S3 recovery, you can refer to this step-by-step guide to recover deleted photos from Samsung Galaxy S3.
Note that not all data can be recovered. For now, you can recover deleted messages, contacts, photos, videos, music, WhatsApp messages and attachments, documents, etc.

  90. pj

Does it work on lenevo A369i

    • Matt

We have not tested this Android phone recovery software for Lenovo A369i. You can give it a shot and we’d like to hear your feedback.
This Android recovery software works for many Android phone with or without rooting. If it does not work for your phone model, you can try to root the phone first, as our recovery software works better with rooted Android phones.

  91. Nancy

How can I Get all my contacts back once phone has been wiped? As they was all saved on to device memory?

    • Matt

The Android phone recovery software is able to recover deleted data from both external storage (MicroSD card) and internal storage (device memory). Unlike many other mobile phone recovery software that can only recover data from SD cards.
You can download the mobile recovery software on to your computer. Enable USB debugging on your phone. After that run the recovery software on your PC or Mac, connect up your phone through USB and use the recovery program to scan the phone, recover data from it.
Please give it a shot. We’d like to hear your feedback.

  92. Khan

    Hi ,
I have deleted my all photos then I press factory reset without backup. Can I still retrieve my photos which I have deleted before factory reset?

    • Matt

      Hi,
Yes, you still have a chance to recover the photos deleted by yourself before factory reset. Do Not use your phone to save any new data for now. Download and install this Android phone recovery software on to your computer, connect you phone to computer and use ths Android recovery software to scan your phone. Any photos found in the scanning process can be recovered.

      • Khan

        Thanks Matt :).

        • Matt

          you are welcome.

  93. Lee

Also it seemed to have stopped scanning at 29%… how long does it usually take? im only trying to recover contacts and mssges Thanks 🙂

    • Matt

If you only enable contacts recovery and/or messages recovery while disable all other data types, such as photos, documenets, videos, etc. To narrow down the scan for only contacts or messages, you can greatly speed up the scanning, it should take less than 30 minutes. If it gets stuck somewhere for long, you can stop scanning, restart the Android recovery software, disconnect and reconnect your mobile phone from USB and start over again.

  94. Lee

Hey Matt quick question, if i stop scanning in mid and redo scan to change the option will it still work? or is the recovery thing a 1 time deal? Im using a Galaxy Core GT-I8262

    • Matt

      Hello Lee,
You can stop scanning any time and recover the already found files from your samsung phone. Sometimes when you have enable all file types to recover but changed your mind to only specific file type, you can also stop the scanning and go back to select the file type and scan your phone again.
Samsung Galaxy Core GT-I8262 is a supported model by this Android recovery software, we have tested this phone model with Android 4.1.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.4.2, 4.4.4, 5 both rooted and unrooted.

  95. shervy

    Hi,
I need your help here because I probably accidentally pressed android factory and deleted all my files, pictures included whatsapp pictures, apps, videos, and most importantly all the contact. I don’t intend to wipe off everything so I did not save any of it. Can I get back all those files and datas? Please help….

    Regards,
    Sher Vy

    • Matt

      Hi Sher Vy,
Do not use your phone for now when you accidentally reset the phone. As any activities that can generate new data on your phone may overwrite those deleted data. The deleted data should still on your phone’s internal storage after factory reset. You can follow below steps to get them back:
      1. enable USB debugging on your Android phone;
      2. download and install the Android recovery software for Windows or Mac to your computer; make sure to download the right version according to your computer OS, do NOT download it to your phone, it will not work and it may erase those deleted data;
      3. connect your mobile phone to computer via USB cable;
      4. Run the Android recovery software on your PC or Mac to scan your phone and recover deleted files from phone to computer. Deleted files, such as contacts, messages, whatsapp chats, whatsapp pictures, photos, videos and more can be recovered.
Please give it a shot and we’d like to hear your feedback. Do not hesitate to let us know if any further inquiries. Also if you can provide us your specific phone model and Android version, we might be able to provide more specific instructions.

hello. i am using Lenovo S960. the problem happened while i was listening to the song yesterday and suddenly the phone switched off, i have tried to switch it on for many times but its not working. I set the hard reset by using recovery mode. on the bottom page it says ”try to update sdcard”. i have tried to select update from sdcard for many times but its not working. it keeps come back to recovery mode. what should I do. Please help me with this

    • Matt

      hello,
Is there any SD card on your phone? it seems Lenovo S960 does not support external SD card.
In the recovery mode, can you see other options, such as back up data, restore data, wipe data? If you performed a hard reset without backup, our Android recovery software can’t help you retrieve the deleted data on mobile phone. This software works for the normal factory reset within Android system, other than the hard reset in Android recovery mode.

  97. John Tran

I’ve installed the program. However, when connected it will crash and restart the phone. I have a t-mobile S5, just factory reset.

Let me know if i’m doing something wrong.

    Installed program
Device is on stay awake / usb debugging
    connect as: Media Device
    Checked file type needed
Ok to identify device / it will get stuck at about 30% / Phone will restart program will say phone disconnected
please connect it again and i havent moved anything

HELPPPP! i will pay for support…..and recover if posssible.!!!

    • Matt

Can you please provide us your specific phone model and Android version, like Galaxy S5 SM-G900V Android 4.4.2 just as an example?
Try to connect your Galaxy S5 to computer without running the android recovery software, enable MTP on Android phone, then double check see if your computer can identify your phone and you can access your phone from Windows Explorer.

  98. Lennon Peña

I tried the Android Data Recovery program and it says I have to root my Galaxy S4 on Lollipop. I followed the steps prior to this and it was scanning and once it came to analyzing, it said it was unsuccessful and explored the alternatives. Let me try again: what happened was that I was decrypting my device and I left it alone and plugged in to make sure it didnt turn off or something during that process. When I came to check its progress, it said the process was interrupted and had to do a factory reset. I tried to use the software to recover as much data as possible and got to the point where it was analyzing my device. It was successful in the first part, then the rest were unsuccessful and said it was exploring the alternatives. After that, I got a notification that data recovery wasn’t supported by the device and had to be rooted.

    • Matt

      Hi,
The current version of Android data recovery software works with Android 4.X and previous versions. It does not work with Android 5.0 Lollipop for now. We will improve this in future upgrade. Sorry for the inconveniece caused.

  99. Carolyn Wilkinson

    Hi
I want to sell my galaxy tab pro but if I do factory reset , looking at this restore page, does it mean anyone can recover my details as in the discussion above? Thank you in advance.

    • Matt

Yes. the data deleted in the factory reset on your Samsung galaxy tab can be restored using this software. However this is a premium software, so people will not be able to recover deleted data on mobile device unless they pay for the software.

      • Carolyn

Ouch thank you Matt. Makes me weary about selling it on 🙁

        • Matt

          You are welcome.
here are some tips to make your data on cell phone more safe when you want to sell it:
          1. perform factory reset on the phone, then download above Android recovery software and use it to scan your phone after reset, you can verify if any data and what kind of data can be found and recoverable.
          2. after resetting phone, you can save new meaningless files on to the internal memory of your phone, this can overwrite deleted files on mobile phone.
          3. take out your SD card, never sell the phone with SD card in it. SD card is not expensive, no buyer might want to buy an old one.
          4. some data destroyer software can help you completely erase data on mobile phone, you can check out this article for more details.

    Hi Matt
I have forgotten pattern of my Android phn….den i formatted my Android device…now i want to recover that lost data….will it work?
Or may you suggest a better software for recovery of that lost data…..?
Help me Matt…..i need it alot….i have lost my awesome pics & useful documents which have been saved in that

    • Matt

If you have performed a hard reset of Android phone, this Android phone recovery might not be able to help. You can download it on to your PC, then use it to scan your phone see if any lost data can be found. This phone recover works well for a regular factory data reset or manufacturer settings reset within the Android phone settings.

      • Utkarsh Raj

Hi Matt….thanks for you reply nd help.

        Any other suggestions?
Or any other software which can be used to recover those data….!
I want to use remo recover for Android…. will it work?
        What’s your opinion on dat??
Matt, i have formatted my Android device for pattern unlock because i huv no any other option to unlock….!
Pls recommend me any software which may be used nd the procedure too.

        • Matt

          Hi Raj,

          You are welcome.
This is the first Android phone data recovery software in the world. And still the most popular Android recovery in the market. I am not familar with the other Android recovery you mentioned above. You can give it a shot though.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I do not know any Android recovery on the web at present that can recover files after the mobile system has been deleted or the phone has been hard reset.

  102. Reshma

device is getting restarted so many times please help

    • Matt

What’s your Android version on the phone? Was it rooted before?
      You can try:
      1. disconnect and reconnect your phone to computer through USB;
      2. restart the Android recovery software;
      3. close unnecessary apps on the phone, software on PC;
You can also find more tips from this Android recovery troubleshooting & FAQ page.

  103. Reshma

hi,i lost my pics from htc desire 700please help me its urgent

    • Matt

This is a supported phone model. We have tested the Android recovery software to be working for HTC DESIRE 700 which is running on Android version 4.1.2. You can refer to this guide for the specific instructions to recover photos from HTC phones.

  104. MC

By the way, I did not enable USB debugging before locked, so very likely the software can’t detect my pad.

    • Matt

USB debugging must be turned on in order to use this recovery software to recover data from your mobile device. As it needs to install an app on to your phone or Pad.

  105. MC

Hi, my LG V500 G pad is accidentally locked by my son after few try of pattern lock and since the wifi has been turned off, I can’t even activate back my pad with google account. Does this software helps me recovering my photos and videos after I do a hard reset of the Tablet? Those are very precious photos and videos when my son was still a baby. Thank you.

    • Matt

LG V500 is a supported tablet model by this Android data recovery software. Based on our experiment, the mobile recovery works well for LG V500 G Pad which is running on Android 4.2.2 or 4.4.2. You can download the software on to your PC, connect your LG tablet to PC via USB, then use the recovery software to scan your tablet see if it can access your locked tablet or not.
There is still a chance to scan and recover some or all photos and videos after hard reset. But we suggest you to give it a shot before you reset the tablet. This can help you get back as much data as possible.

      • MC

Thanks Matt. Does that means there is only a little chance of recovering them after hard reset? Does it differs from normal factory reset?

        • Matt

Yes. there is a little chance of recovering your personal data after hard reset. It differs from normal factory reset.

      • MC

Hi Matt, my tablet is not USB Debugging enabled, probably can’t be detected by computer. Can you tell me if the chance is lower if it is a hard reset rather than normal factory reset? Thanks again.

        • Matt

          Hi MC,
You are right for both the USB debugging option and data recovery after hard reset.
You can try your luck. If USB debugging was enabled before, you may be able to get back your personal data on locked Android device. The chance is MUCH lower if you perfomed a hard reset.

    • Matt

The mobile phone data recovery has been tested to work for various Samsung Note 3 models on Android 4.x, like SM-N900, SM-N9002, SM-N9006, SM-N9009, etc. However we have not tested it for Note 3 which is running on Android 5 yet, so not sure if the current Android phone recovery version can recover data and pictures from your Samsung note or not. Feel free to download and give it a shoot.

    • Matt

      Hi,
Did you get stuck on 90% in the analyzing process or in scanning your HTC phone?
If you can proceed to scan HTC phone, can you see any data or files found in the scanning process?
We have not tested the phone recovery for this HTC desire 820s model, so it might not work. You can try below tips see if any help.
      1. disable & re-enable USB debugging on HTC phone.
      2. disconnect & reconnect HTC to computer through USB, open Windows Explorer to see if your computer can recognize the phone.
      3. close and restart the Android smart phone recovery software to scan your phone again.
If still no luck, you can check out this Android data recovery guide for more tips. At the lower section of this page, you can find many useful tips.

  108. anna

just to add up – I have got this phone less than 3 months. Haven’t done any cloud connection or external device storage backup arrangement. All files/contacts are storage in phone “Devise” option instead of sim card.

    • Matthew

The mobile phone data recovery solution does not require a backup made before. It can recover data from Android phone’s internal storage (or the ‘Device’ as many people call it). If you have SD card as well, the software can also scan and recover data from there.
Since we have not tested it for this specific ASUS smart phone model, we can’t guarantee it will work. You can try your luck. Download it for free from the above guide and give it a try by yourself.

  109. anna

    Hi
    I got a ASUS_T00G Android version 4.4.2
do not know exactly what happen , or what I have done to cause my phone asking me 4 digits password which I have never set for my phone and of course I failed 5 times. ( how foolish I was …) As result the phone start its own mind in a process of “cleaning ….something”. I stop it out of panic by turn off the phone. Next thing I turn it on, I notice the phone seem back in a brand new status with all my personal setting and data gone!

I wonder if this can be considered as “Factory Reset” and whether possible to recover all my data ( photos/ recording/ contacts ” with your software?

    need help

    • Matthew

      Hi,
We have tested the phone recovery software on various ASUS smartphone models (PADFONE, PADFONE T004, SLIDER SL101, A50, A1_07, A10, TRANSFORMER PAD TF700T/TF300T/TF300TG, K00L, just to name a few), but not the ASUS T00G model yet. You can download the mobile phone recovery program on to your Windows PC from the above post, then connect your ASUS phone to PC and use the above software to scan your phone see if any deleted data can be found or not.

I have an UNROOTED international version of the samsung galaxy tab 3 (gt-p5200). I have android 4.4.2 kit Kat (Spain orange). I have lost 90% of my contacts and all text messages after anunintentional factory reset yesterday. Aside from downloading what Google restored via syncing, I haven’t used the tab much since it reset after upgrade. However, I primarily use this tab for business and school so I need that data back. Will this work on my model?

Your recovery tool is the only one that I have seen that works with unrooted devices. Most other recovery tools won’t even recognize my model or connect to my model…even Samsung is hands off about it and told me to send it back to Spain! HELP!

    • Matthew

      Hi,

We have not tested it on this Galaxy tab 3 model. Thus we can’t guarantee it would work for your samsung tab. You can download the most recent version of our Android data recovery software from this data recovery guide above, then test it out by yourself.

The recovery programs works for Samsung galaxy Tab 2 very well. Based on our tests, it works for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-P5100) with various Android versions 4.0.3, 4.0.4, 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.2.2. Other than this, we also found it is compatible with more Samsung tabs, like GT-P6210, GT-P6200, GT-P6810, GT-P6800, GT-P7510, GT-P7500, GT-P1000, etc.

Feel free to download the Android data recovery and try your luck. Do not hesitate to write back if any further inquiries.

Does this work for LG G2 running 4.4.2? I am downloading the program now but I am just asking before I get too deep into the recovery, if it will even work for my variant.

I couldnot recover my files..mistakenly my child press the factory reset button and so myy all data and files has been erased..I am not having pc of my own…plz tell me the simple ways to recover my data from my fone galaxy grand neo

    • Matthew

      Hi Chiebee,
Have you backed up your data on the phone to anywhere before?
This phone recovery is a desktop software. You will need a PC in order to use this recovery software to scan your phone and recover data from it.

  115. Kester

I downloaded Xposed and which installed a framawork updates and rebooted my device and Wiped everything and restored it to its factory settings.. and all my contacts were not backed up.. can I recover my contacts again? btw my phone is Alcatel one touch Magic..

Many Alcatel one touch models are supported. So there is still some chance you can get back your lost contacts or other data you want to retrieve.
Feel free to download the Android phone recovery software on to your Windows PC, and use it to scan your Alcatel one touch phone see if the contacts can be found and recovered.

Can I get back my photos which are locked in a photo lock app after factory reset

    • Matt

The easiest way to find it out would be downloading the software on to your PC and use it to scan your phone see if the photos can be found or not. Feel free to download and test it out by yourself.

  117. Nicole

I am not sure why my comment got deleted, but I have a Samsung S3 that I have lost over 2000 pictures because of a forced factory reset. I did download an app to recover data, but it ended up being a informational app. I just was wondering how likely it would be to recover my data. What are your success rate?

    • Matt

It is hard to say as there are so many Android phones, models with various Android versions, custom ROMs.
But you can always download this software on to your PC, connect your phone to the PC, then run the Android phone recovery to scan your phone see if your lost pictures can be found or not.

  118. Nicole

I have a Samsung S3 phone and last night my phone automatically rebooted my phone without me asking it to. It deleted over 2000 pictures from my phone. I have been so upset crying all night and morning. I did download an app to recover data, but it ended up being a explanation app. Do you think that I will still be able to recover my pictures? What are your success rates?

    Hello,
Does this backup work for Huawei Ascend G700?

    • Matt

Yes. it should work for Huawei G700, including variants like G700-U00, G700-U10, G700-U20.
You can also download and test it for free.

  120. nirvana

    hi
a month ago i take a video with my camera and after that i’m delete that video immediately and i install 20 apps until now and i working with my phone a lot but i don’t take any photo or video with my camera anymore and i factory reset my phone yesterday i want to know is there any chance to recovery that video or not , i want to know that video can be overwritten with apps i install or not . my phone is s1 i9000

    • Matt

      Hi,
This phone recovery software works for Samsung I9000. However apps you installed might have overwritten the deleted videos, also the videos have been deleted for long time so you may have small chance to get all of them back. You should download this mobile phone data recovery software on to your computer, use it to scan your phone see if any videos can be found.

  121. johny tom

    hii
sir i delected some photos from my phone memory…and after 1 week i also done factory reset….is there any chance to get it back…??? i delected and again done factory reset…any chance??

    • Matt

      Hi,
Yes, you still have the chance to get the photos back.
A quick way to find it out is to download the recovey software, use it to scan the phone see if those deleted photos can still be found or not.

  122. Jin

    Hi Matt,

I accidentally reset my friend’s Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone. Does this backup work for the note3, even though it is not rooted? Also, there was some information that was stored on his notepad, could that information be recovered as well?

    Thank you!!

    • Matt

      Hi Jin,
Yes, this Android recovery software works for different Galaxy Note 3 models even it is not rooted.
There is a chance to recover the lost information after phone reset, such as photos, videos, music, contacts, messages, call history, documents, etc. However if the deleted data has been overwritten by new data saved on the phone, you will not be able to get them back.
Make sure not to use the Samsung Note to download apps, take photos, browsing websites, check emails or any other activities that may save data on the phone, as they will overwrite those deleted data.
The easiest way to find out what information can be recovered is to download the recovery software on to your computer, connect your phone to computer through USB, then use the data recovery to scan your phone see what files and data can be found.

      Good luck.

  123. arif

i mean if a data is overwriten after delitng and factory rest then is it possible to recover it ? or the last data only will recover ?

    • Matt

If the data has been overwritten after deleting, you can’t recover it. This software is able to recover the last data only. The more times the source data the more difficult to get it back. If you need to recover lost that that has been overwritten for many times, you need to consult data recovery specialists for further assistance.
Anyway, why not download the software and give it a try? It is Free to download, you can use it to scan your phone see if the data you want to recover can be found or not using this recover software.

  124. arif

i deleted data from phone memory of my HTC amzae .aftr that factoery reset it .then i fillled it again with data and phone memory bcome full i delted that also. can i recover the older data which was firstly deleted and then phone was reset twice ..?

    • Matt

You may not be able to recover the older data if it was erased twice. The easist way to find it out, is to download the software and give it a try by yourself. It is Free to download, you can use it to scan your phone see if the data can be found or not.

  125. ggg

I have samsung galaxy s duos 2…This software is not scanning the phone ..please help me..

    • Matt

Did you get any error in analyzing the phone?
If so, you can try to quit the phone recovery software, disconnect and reconnect your phone through USB, then try to scan your phone again see if any update.
The phone recovery has been tested fine on Samsung model GT-S7562(Trend Duos), model GT-I9082 (Grand DUOS) and many other models.
You can find more troubleshooting tips from this Android data recovery guide.

I am using Galaxy S6 but the tools cannot identify my phone.

      • Silence Chow

        The Device name Galaxy S6
        Model number: SM-G9200
I have tried lots of time of this step but the tools still cannot identify of my mobile.
When the step of identify device, its shown “installing FOXCONN Unknown Device” after that it will be back to the page asked me to enable USB debugging. But I am sure that I have enabled.

      • Silence Chow

I think I have found out the problem. Android 5 or newer cannot enable USB mass storage mode even I have enabled USB debugging.

        • Matt

You do not need to enable USB mass storage mode. It is the USB debugging, the only option you need to enble on Android phone.

  129. Water

I have a samsung galaxy note 2 GT-N7100. It just stuck in boot loop so i would like to factory reset my phone.
does the tool works with my phone model? another question is about whether application data are recoverable or not?

    • Matt

Yes, it can recover data from Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100.
It should be able to recover your data on the phone after factory reset provided you own a supported phone model and supported custom ROM if you flashed the phone. However this is not a guarantee. So feel free to download the recovery tool for free and try your luck.

  130. swati

I have samsung tab 2 n yesterday reset button was pressed by mistake . My memory card data is available but the phone data is lost . How can i recover the data please help

    • Matt

You can download the Android data recovery software on to a Windows computer, connect your samsung tab to computer via USB data cord, then use it to scan your Samsung tablet and recover data from it to your computer.
Since your data on the memory card is still on it, you do not need to scan it using the Android recovery software, so you can uninstall the memory card from your tablet and take it out. By doing so, you can save the time in scanning your device as the Android recovery software will then only scan and recover data from the internal storage of your device.

  131. Jagroop

I have xolo q700s mobile phone i had reset my phone and all my contacts were linked with gmail and no backup was there and also don’t know how to back up can u help me pls . I had rested it a couple of days ago .Is it possible to do so .

    • Matt

To back up contacts on Android phones, such as Samsung, Lenovo or else, you can refer to this guide: http://www.softwarert.com/transfer-samsung-contacts-email/.
Since you do not have any backups saved anywhere, you should download the Android data recovery software from above, use it to scan your mobile phone and recover contacts from it. The sooner you follow above instructions to recover data, the higher chance you can get back the lost files from your phone. Any activities on the phone after the phone reset may overwrite those deleted data and prevent them from being recoverable.

  132. Alexandre

    Hi Matt!

I’m having a big problem here, I did a factory reset accidentaly and now I need to recover all my pictures. It’s a (LG Nexus 4) on v4.4.4, and all I’ve done so far is to Unroot it then enable the “USB Debugging Mode”. Now when I connected it the first time on my computer, it was detecting through Wondershare, Nexus 5 instead of 4 for an unknown reason, then it hangged at 99% so I unplugged it, rebooted the phone… but now the program just say (Failed to detect your device) no matter how often I click retry. What the hell is going on?!

I’m starting to lose hope on being able to recover my precious pictures… stupid phone with internal memory, never again I’m gonna buy that!

    • Matt

      Hi Alexandre,

The Android phone recovery should work with LG Nexus 4 on Android 4.4.4. Do not unroot it. The Android recovery software works best on rooted phones. So if you have rooted the phone before you lost the data, there is no need to unroot it. When you lost data on the phone, you should stop using the phone, because any new data saved or generated on the phone might overwrite the deleted data which makes them more difficult to recover.
Nexus 4 has 8G ROM, so it might take a while to finish scanning the device. If you are sure it gets stuck, you should firstly stop the scanning in the phone recovery software, then disconnect it from USB connection.
The lastest version of the Android recovery program is V5.0.3.4 so far. If you are on a previous version, make sure to uninstall it from your PC and download the latest version from http://www.softwarert.com/dr-fone-android-download/.

More tips and tricks can be found from this page: http://www.softwarert.com/android-data-recovery-guide/#android-data-recovery-troubleshooting

      • Alexandre

        Hi Matt,

I did have the latest version of Wondershare and I use Windows 8.1 64bit. Like I said at first it was detecting my phone as a Nexus 5, then I just uninstalled anything showing Nexus from my (Device Manager) in Windows, rebooted everything and plugged it back and now it was detecting it as (Asus Nexus 4) which was half better but that time the scan wouldn’t go past 0% even after a few houres. I disconnected everything, replugged the phone then somehow by magic it finaly detected it as (LG Nexus 4) which was about time 😮

I did a complete scan of the Photo/Video files with Wondershare, took about 1.5 houres but all it found was the same stuff as the phone apps (DiskDigger). What it found was only like 4-5 random images which got into the phone when it synchronized my Google/Gmail account automaticly. It haven’t found A SINGLE picture that was on the phone before the factory reset, wtf?! I know that I have to use the phone as less as possible not to overwrite files if I want to recover them. Usualy it’s a real joke with an SD card but I never had such trouble with that stupid internal memory.

Wondershare found 3Gb in about 70 video files (3gp, 3g2, mov, mp4) but none are playable (-_-) How the hell it didn’t even find 1 real picture that was on the phone before the factory reset?!

        • Alexandre

EDIT: Oops, forgot to add something.

Why does it work best on ROOTED phones? What’s wrong with unrooting it and can it affect the results? I’d be highly surprised that it finds out of nowhere 10x more stuff if I root it back but I could still try… I used (Towelroot) to unroot it, how do I root it back?

          Thanks Matt.

  133. rahul

Is this software work with xiomi redmi 1s mobile phone.

    • Matt

Yes. It should work. Based on our test, it worked successfully with Xiaomi Redmi 1S/Xiaomi Hongmi 1S/Xiaomi HM 1S that is running on Android V4.3.
It works with other Xiaomi models and Android versions as well, such as MI 2A, MI 2C, MI 2, MI 3, MI 2S, HM NOTE 1TD, etc.
Feel free to download it on to your Windows computer to scan and recover data from your Xiaomi smartphone.

  134. Soniya

Hi Matt, I have been left totally heartbroken after the facetious mobile phone repairer guy went ahead and factory reset my phone as a quick fix opposed to updating software and this too without informing or consulting with me first. This has now resulted in me losing very sentimental data which had been saved on
my phone over a number of years. I have read most of the queries above and would have felt pretty optimistically hopeful, however i did not see even one query relating to my phone model type which is a BlackBerry Bold 9900, is there any hope of recovery? Please reply either way.. Regards :'(

    • Matt

      Hi Soniya,
Sorry to hear that you have lost very important data on the phone.
Do you have any backups of your BlackBerry Bold saved on your computer? BlackBerry users can use the free official BlackBerry Desktop software to back up their data from BlackBerry to computer. If you ever backed up your phone using it, you will be able to recover your data from the backup.

This phone data recovery introduced in this article is an Android data recovery. It can only recover lost data from Android phones, such as Samsang, HTC, Lenovo, Motorola, etc. It does not support BlackBerry Bold smartphone.

  135. Byader Hamed

How do I stop people from doing this on my phone?

    • Matt

After you reset the phone, you can rewrite the phone’s storage by saving new data on it, delete the new data and repeat the steps to save and delete data, the more times you erase the data, the more difficult to get them back. You can find more tips and data destroyer tools from this page, http://www.softwarert.com/permanently-erase-data-cellphone/

  136. Vinoth

Hi.. I am using nokia C200. . without making backup i restore my phone. . is it possible to recover all my phone storage.. Please…

      Hi Vinoth,
Sorry, this phone recovery works with Android based smartphones only. Nokia C200 is using the Symbian OS.

  137. Usman Akhtar

Hi I have reset my S5 without realising the pictures would be lost too.

I am currently on Android 5.0 very recently. Is there still a chance I can use this tool to recover?

    • Matt

      Hi,
We have not tested the recovery software with Galaxy S5 which is running on Android 5.0 yet. Feel free to download the free trial version and test it out by yourself.
You can also refer to this step-by-step guide to recover lost pictures and other data from Samsung S5 using above Android data recovery program.

  138. Cam

    hi,
During the recovery process my phone keeps saying an application tried to access my system files and has been automatically blocked. How do I stop my Samsung Galaxy s4 mini version 4.2.2 from blocking the application?
    cheers

    • Matt

The phone recovery software will need the privilege to access your mobile phone system in order to scan for lost file and recover them.
Do you have some app, such as a phone manager, on your mobile phone? You can try to temporarily stop those apps before you using this recovery tool, as they might have blocked the data recovery from working properly.
Alternatively if the data was deleted from the memory card of your phone other than its internal memory, you can also refer to this guide to recover lost data from SD cards.

    • Matt

LENOVO S960 with Android V4.2.2 has been tested to be working well. Make sure you have enabled USB debugging on the phone. Try to stop the analyzing or scanning process, disconnect your phone from USB, then reconnect it again see if any help.

Normally it will not take that long. You can try to stop the scanning, disconnect your phone, then reconnect it through USB. After that use the Android recovery to scan the phone again see if any help.

it does not work for my att samsung galaxy s5 active. ive tried standard and advanced modes. before i factory reset i clicked backup device option. nothing popped up afterwords. i figured it would be safe to do so since i checked the box. i dont know what to do now. i do have an sd card in my phone. what do i do to get my information back? please help!

    • Matt

There are many reasons that may cause the Android recovery software not work properly on different Android phones and Android versions. You can refer to this troubleshooting page for tips to get it right, http://www.softwarert.com/android-data-recovery-guide/#android-data-recovery-troubleshooting
If still no luck, you can uninstall your SD card and pop it out from your phone, then follow this guide to recover data from your SD card to computer. You will be able to recover lost, deleted or formatted data from your SD card. You can recover up to 100MB data for free. If you need to recover more data, you will need to pay a small mount of money to purchase the full version of this data recovery software.

  145. preethi

I have a Samsung galaxy core mobile… and I have stored few videos in safe galaxy free app.. but with out knowing I did factory reset. even I lost tat app along with the videos.. so can I get back those videos.

    • Matt

You can recover the deleted videos even you lost the app. However if you have saved new data on the phone after the factory reset, this might overwrite those deleted data and make them unrecoverable. So you should stop using your phone and recover those lost videos as soon as possible. You can download and try the Android recovery software for free.

  146. Dee

I tried the software on my phone after accidently doing a factory reset and its not working all file are empty I have a LG ls720…. is all hope lost for my pictures?

  147. pooja

    Hi,
Bymistake i did factory reset on my mobile moto g , i tried to return them through google but there is no backup

I want to backup my all contacts ad pic , is it possible to make backup after factory reset .

    • Matt

Yes, you can use it to extract and recover both existing and deleted contacts & pictures from your Moto G to computer for backup.
However when you have reset your phone or deleted files by mistake, please do not use your phone for new data saving until you get the lost files back, as this may overwrite those deleted or formatted data.
Please feel free to download this Android recovery software on to your PC, and use it to scan your phone for the lost contacts, photos and other data you want to retrieve after factory reset.

  148. hind

    HI!
by mistake i did backup reset to my mobile samsung galaxsy S4 i lost all my photos i tried to return them by google but even my google account is not working.
Is there any way for my photos to be back !!
    Thank u

    • Matt

      Hi,
Yes, there is still a chance you can get them back.
Please do not use your phone for new app installation, data saving like taking photos, recording videos as these activities may save new data on the phone and thus overwrite deleted photos and other files.
You can follow this guide to recover lost photos on Galaxy S4, or S5, http://www.softwarert.com/recover-deleted-photos-videos-samsung-galaxy-s5/

      Good luck.

  149. Lios

I did all these things you said multiple times, I even tried it on a different computer and still got the same results.
I’m pretty sure by now that all my photos overwritten with new data. There is nothing else that I can do about it.
Thanks again for all your help.

    • Matt

you are welcome. please feel free to contact if anything we can help in the future.

  150. Lios

    Hey Matt,
Still no luck, I downloaded the latest version and the software still won’t show the Standard/Advanced scanning modes.
I tried everything and unfortunately it seems that I will never have my photos back.

Thank you for doing your best to help me.

  151. Lios

    Hey Matt,
    Thank you for answering me.
For some reason the software does not show me to enable Advanced mode or even the standard mode, it goes straight to scanning the type of files I selected. As for the SD card, unfortunately I didn’t have so all the photos was saved in the internal memory. Also I forgot to mention you that when I accidentally factory reset my phone the first thing I did was to install the Instagram app. (stupid I know) and now I’m thinking maybe it overwrote on the lost data and that’s why it can not show my photos. I’m afraid I will never be able to recover them Matt.

    Thank you.

    • Matt

      You are welcome.
The Standard/Advanced scanning modes selection will only show up when you have enabled one of the photo, video, documents, music recovery. Other files recovery, like contacts, SMS, WhatsApp data, will not bring up the scanning modes selection screen.
If you have enabled photo recovery in the select files to recovery screen but did not get this Standard/Advanced scanning modes selection screen, you are probably using an old version of the phone recovery tool. Please remove your current version and download the latest version from this link http://www.softwarert.com/dr-fone-android-download/
The Android recovery is able to recover data from phone’s internal memory as well. However since you have installed new apps, there is a chance some or all deleted photos might be overwritten.

Please give a try to the latest version of the recovery software see if any help.

      Good Luck!

  152. Lios

    Hi,
Everything is working fine and I want to recover my photos but it only shows photos from Instagram that I have looked. My photos from camera are nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere and no luck. How can this happened? Help me please Matt.

    Thank you.

    • Matt

      Hi Lios,
It should be able to recover your photos from Camera as well. Instead of the Standard mode, you can enable Advanced mode for deep scan and recover of lost photos. Please refer to this specific guide for the photo & video recovery from Samsung and Android phones.
Do you have any SD card inserted into the phone? Please also make sure your SD card is working. Normally photos will be saved to the SD card if any.
Please double check and keep me updated.

Plz help if I have no pc then how I install this program.by mistake I do factory restore and I lost my all data such as pictures and other so plz tell me any program I install on phone n recovery my all data plz

        • Matt

          Hi nasir rasool,
This is a desktop software for Windows OS. You can’t install it on to your mobile phone directly.
There seems to be no such mobile phone recovery software which can run on the mobile phones so far. I guess it is because the deleted data on your smartphone would be flagged as deletion on its ROM storage, if you install any new app on to the phone, this might overwrite those deleted data and cause them unrecoverable.
          Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

  158. sean

The phone is fairly new and I would imagine still under warranty. It is my work phone so it has not been rooted. The model number is SM-G900V and it has android version 4.4.4. Unfortunately I never set up anything to back it up so this is my only shot.

    • Matt

The phone recovery has been tested to be working fine with Samsung SM-G900V on Android 4.4.2 . We may test it on SM-G900V w/t Android version 4.4.4 in the near future and roll out an update if required.

At the moment, you can double check the FAQ & troubleshooting page from my last reply. Except that, you can close other third party programs or apps that are running on your computer and mobile phone before you use the phone recovery software to scan your device. As there might be a conflict between them sometimes. You can also restart your phone and try again. Alternatively you can also download the phone recovery to another PC, see if any help. If still no luck, to root your phone would be the last resort. The rooting process is not difficult, but it voids warrantee. So do it at your own risk. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

  159. sean

Not sure what happened to my comment, but Im trying to recover my honeymoon photos from my galaxy s5. The program gets to the “Device Ready to scan” page and stays at 90% completed. I could really use some help recovering these pics.

      Hi Sean,

At the moment, the most important thing you need to do is to NOT use your phone to take new photos, download new apps or other new storage or savings. As these may overwrite those deleted data, cause them erased permanently.

You can check out the troubleshooting tips at the lower section of this Android data recover guide. Please double check see if any help. There are many useful tips you can find from there.

Also what’s your model number and Android version please? Was your phone rooted or not? The phone recovery should work with most Galaxy s5 phones. If it failed to analyze your phone and your phone warranty expired, you may consider to root the phone and try to scan and recover data from the phone again.

Samsung offers Kies for the smartphone and tablets management, you can use it to back up your phone. If you have backed up your phone using it before, you can also restore data from there. See how to backup and restore Samsung phone using Kies?

  162. Dannille

Hello, I reset my s5 today without realising that the gallery and music goes with it. Does your free version fully recover it all or do i HAVE to buy the full version? Because i dont have the money to buy a full version.

    • Matt

      Hello Dannille,
The free version only allow you to scan and preview the lost files on the phone. For example, you will be able to use it to search those deleted photos, then display them in a result page with all thumbnails of the photos. You can save the thumbnails of photos to your computer. However if you want to extract the full resolution photos on the phone, you need to register the software to get full version before you can do that.
Other than using this phone recovery software, you can also check see if you have previous backups saved on computer. Samsung offers Kies to manage their phones and tablets, http://www.softwarert.com/backup-restore-samsung-phones-kies/ . So if you have backed up your phone using Kies, you can simply restore your phone using it.
Additionally you can also search other free data recovery utility on the internet. I know there is such free tools claim to do free phone data recovery. However since I have not tested them personally, I will not make any suggestions here. As freeware might have ads or other disadvantages.

    • Matt

      Hi Mhara Fe,
The data recovery supports your phone ModeL SM-G900H and android version 4.4.2.
You can use this tool to recover data from your phone, like photos, videos, contacts, messages, call history, music, whatsapp data and documents. Please note this is a software for Windows PC, so you need to use a PC to download and install the software, after that run the recovery software on your computer, connect your phone to computer through USB cable, and perform data recovery from phone to computer. It will scan your phone and extract data from phone to computer, you can keep the recovered data on your computer for backup or optionally put them back on to your phone.

Please refer to this guide for specific instructions: http://www.softwarert.com/recover-deleted-photos-videos-samsung-galaxy-s5/

Note that this recovery works for majory Android powered smartphones, not only Samsung galaxy S5, but many others like HTC phones, LG phones, Lenovo phones, Motorola phones, etc.

    p.s. i have a unrooted phone

    • Matt

You do not need to root your Galaxy phone, it works with almost all rooted phones and most unrooted phones.

  166. martina

I have a Samsung galaxy s3, and I’d factory reset my phone, but i forgot that I have some pictures and videos, can you please tell me is it possible to restore my pictures and videos? I’ve tried to go to all sorts of mobile services, and they all keep telling me that it’s rarelly possiblle, that the chance is about 20%, especially with Samsung phones it’s even less than that.
I tried to download your program, and to do it by myself, but there are some problems, and I can’t do it. Can you please help me through team viewer,I would buy a program and even pay you. Plase contact me soon as possible

    • Matt

You do not need to root your Samsung Galaxy S3. The data recovery works with Galaxy S3 that is running from Android 4.0.3 to 4.4.4. You can refer to this guide for more specific instructions: http://www.softwarert.com/recover-deleted-photos-videos-samsung-galaxy-s5/ .
Two most frequently issues are the USB debugging enabling and storage scanning mode selection. You have to enable USB debugging on your phone, so the data recovery can access your phone; if you can’t find some deleted data from your phone, you should switch from Standard scan to Advanced scan mode. Other steps are very easy to follow. It takes some time to scan your device, but no difficult steps.

    Hello Matt,
I haven’t used your software yet but though thanking you for developing such an app 🙂
Coming to my problem i’ve a Samsung galaxy GT-3100 (tab2) on which i had clicked factory data reset (two or three hours ago) and now i want the data back (the data is about 9 GB), my question to you is, will all the photos, songs & contacts (which are crucial for me) be back to the phone?
I have not clicked any new photo or adding any sort of data on the tablet yet, but can you assure me the full data recovery of my tablet ??
please reply the earliest, eagerly waiting.
    thanks again
    regards,
    Siddhant V

    • Matt

The data recovery solution has been tested to be working with both Samsung galaxy tab GT-P3100 and GT-P3100B, rooted or unrooted.
You can salvage photos, songs, contacts, videos, messages and other data from phone to your computer. After that you can transfer these data back on to the phone again. The data recovery software however does not come with the data transfer function to help you transfer back these recovered data.
You can simply download and try this software. When you can find the lost files or data using it, you can recover them. There are several scan and recovery mode you can tweak to make it work as expected. You can find more tips from this FAQ page: http://www.softwarert.com/android-data-recovery-guide/

When you have successfully found the lost data using this tool, and want to recover them from phone to computer, you will need to register the software. So you can buy the full version from this link http://www.softwarert.com/product/dr-fone-android/ . when you placed order online, the license code will be sent to your email in minutes, you can register the free trial version with the license code to continue to data recovery.

      • ankush

      • ankush

plz help me out of this….i m really frustrated from this….

        • Matt

If you are on one of the following versions, it should work as expected, 4.0.3,4.1.2,4.2.2,4.3,4.4.2.
We have n’t tested Sony Xperia phones with Android version 4.4.4. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We may fix this issue in future upgrade.
For now, you may need to root your device or look for other recovery software tools.

  170. Kunal

I have a HTC One X. Done a factory reset by mistake. Does this software works on HTC one X?

    • Matt

Yes. It works with HTC One X.
Tested fine with HTC One X with Android version 4.0.3 on both unrooted or rooted device.
You can download and install this recovery tool to recover your lost files on HTC One X. The sooner the better, as the longer you wait the more likely the deleted data would be overwritten by new storage or data.

      • Sherry

I factory reseted my galaxy S4 can i recover my photos hidden in my phone gallery?

    • Kunal

      Hello,

I tried doing it. As you said it worked but it did not recover any files from the camera shots or camera videos. All it was showing was probably some profile pictures from facebook. I have not used my phone since the accident happened. So there is no question of overwriting. I also tried the advanced search option. Please advise if I may be doing something wrong.

      Thank you for your help.

      Kunal

      • Matt

        Hi Kunal,
It can find and recover photos videos from camera or gallery, also photos from browser history, Facebook and many more. If you activate the Advanced scan mode, a lot of file can be recovered and it thus a lot of time scanning the phone.
Have you finished scanning the device? If so you should be able to find photos videos from you Camera as well. They will be listed along with media files from many other resources in the scanning result screen.

So I’m trying to recover my date after I factor reset my phone and the automatic back up did not work. I have downloaded the software but it has been stuck on 90% completion for about 4 hours now, what should I do?

      Phone S4

      • Matt

You should stop the scanning in the phone recovery sofware. It should not take that long. Try below tips see if any help:
        1. make sure you are on the latest version of the phone recovery. If you have just downloaded this software above, do not bother to check it.
        2. restart the phone recovery;
        3. disconnect and reconnect your phone through USB;
        4. close phone management related software on PC, related app on your phone;
        5. uninstall and take out SD card from your phone if any. (phone reset may not delete data from its memory card, and taking out SD card from the phone can greatly save your time during the phone scanning process)

      • Bhagath

        Pause it and recover

        • Bob

          that’s true.
you can stop the scanning and recover those already found data from phone to computer. You do not have to wait until the completion of the scanning.

    • muthu

I had factory resetted my phone. After that I installed whatsapp and assigned for a new number. But now I need to get my old whatsapp backup. Is it possible??

      • Matt

If you do not change new number when reinstalling Whatsapp, you will be able to restore whatsapp messages in most recent 7 days. You can also download the Android recovery software to recover WhatsApp messages from your phone’s storage without backup. You can find more methods to recover Whatsapp messages from this page: http://www.softwarert.com/recover-deleted-whatsapp-messages-android-mobile/
