Access and show user Library on Mac

Can’t find the user Library folder on Mac? Since Mac OS X 10.7, the user Library folder is hidden on Mac by default. That’s why you can’t see the Mac user Library directory in Finder. If you need to access the Library folder on Mac, you can follow below methods. We will also show you how to change the user settings to make the user Library folder permanently visible.

Method 1. Access user library using shortcut on Mac

In Finder, press and hold the Option key and click the Go menu at the same time, the user Library folder will then be listed in the drop-down menu. You can select to open the user Library folder in Finder.

Method 2. Open user library folder from Go to Folder

In the Finder, click Go menu, choose Go to Folder from the drop-down menu. The Go to Folder dialog appears. Type “~/Library” without the quotes in the box and click Go button to open the user Library folder in Finder.

Method 3. Make user library visible in Finder

In the Finder, click to expand the Go menu from the top menu bar, choose Home from the list. The user home folder opens in Finder. Click the Gear settings icon, choose Show View Options and select Show Library Folder, see below screenshot.
