In this quick guide, we will show you the easy steps to add text, title, sub title, caption, watermark, name, brand name, company name, lower thirds to your videos and screen recordings with Camtasia Studio on Windows computer. Run Camtasia Studio on your PC or Mac. We will use its Windows version in this demo. Then click Record the screen from the upper left corner. The screen recording will open in a new window, you can tweak the recording settings and start recording a video. Once you stop the recording, choose the Save and Edit option, the recorded video clip will then be imported to Camtasia Studio for further editing. You can also click Import media from the upper left corner, then browse to your video files saved on your computer hard drive, choose and add them to Camtasia Studio.
Drag your video or recording to the timeline at the bottom. Move the playhead to quickly locate the frame which you like to display the text. Click Callouts from the toolbar at the middle, then choose Add callout. Alternatively you can choose T (Text) from the Shape drop-down selection box, or pick up any Shape from the Shape with text section.
After that type in the text you want in the input box, then it will display on the video in the preview window at the upper right section of Camtasia Studio. Make edits to your video or screen recording if necessary. Camtasia Studio gives you the text tools to change font type, text color, font size, text alignment, text border, background color, display duration, add fade in, fade out effects, and then turn your videos or screen recordings into professional-grade videos.
Extra text editing tips
- Extend text duration: drag the start or end point of the text in the timeline to change its display duration.
- Change text position: click to select the text in the timeline, then drag and drop it in the video preview window to move it to a new place.
Finally click Produce and share to save your video track and export the video with text overlay from Camtasia to your computer, YouTube or a cloud drive.
