This is a basic run through on Yahoo mail setup on Android devices. Like Gmail and Hotmail configuration on Android phones or tablets, the setup of Yahoo mail on Android phones is automated by the powerful mobile OS, you do not need to input many settings, like SMTP, POP, IMAP servers, ports. As long as you can remember your Yahoo email address and its password, you can set it up in a few seconds.
Steps to Add Yahoo Mail Account to Android
There are different ways to add an email account to Android devices. And different Android brands and models differ in appearance. Here we will be using a Samsung Galaxy phone in the demo to show you one of the easiest method or procedure to set up email account on Samsung and other Android powered smartphones.
Step 1. Open Accounts and Sync on Android
You can open the Settings app on Android, then find the Accounts and Sync option from the Personal section.
Step 2. Add new account to Android
Here you will find existing accounts and Sync settings on your Android mobile phone or tablet. You need to tap on the Add account button to start setup new account on your Android device.
We have noticed that some Android phones do not allow you to add new email account from its Accounts and Sync section. If it is the case on your Android phone, you can directly open the Mail app on your Android and start adding your Yahoo mail account to Android from there. They are different ways to the same place where you can set up Yahoo account on Android.
Step 3. Choose Email in account type list
There are various account types you can choose to add on to Android phone or tablet. Here let’s choose Email and proceed to next steps.
Step 4. Input Yahoo account credentials
You need to type in your full Yahoo email address and its password here. There are two extra options below ‘Show password‘ and ‘Send email from this account by default‘. If you have trouble input the correct password, you can choose to display the input password to ensure you have typed in the correct password. The second option is to set your default email account on Samsung or other Android phones. If you use the Yahoo account a lot,you can tick to enable the second option.
At the bottom of the Yahoo account username and password input window, you have two buttons displayed. The Manual setup is to enter into the manual configuration mode. The other button is to continue with the automatic email setup mode. Samsung supports Yahoo mail very well, it can choose most of the settings and options optimized for Yahoo mail automatically for you. So you can simply press the Next button to continue.
Step 5. Confirm and edit Yahoo Account settings
Now you have a chance to see how Android optimized the settings and options for your Yahoo account. Normally you do not need to change any thing here, you can simply confirm the presets by Android to proceed. For advanced users, you can edit the settings to cater for your specific needs.
Step 6. Give your Yahoo email account a name to complete
This is the last step to add Yahoo email account to Samsung or other Android phones or tablets. You can name your Yahoo account so you can easily identify and choose it in the future. This is very useful when you have multiple emails enabled on Android. Otherwise it is difficult to switch between different email accounts activated on Adnroid device.
