How to change aspect ratio of Camera app in Windows 10, 11?

The Windows OS has many useful preinstalled apps, such as Groove music, voice recorder, camera, etc. My Lenovo PC has the built-in webcam and I found it is really handy to use the Camera app with the Webcam to take pictures and record videos on Windows computer which is running Windows 10 and Windows 11. In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to change aspect ratio of the Camera app for Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Part 1. How to change aspect ratio of Camera app in Windows 10?

Click on the Start menu on windows 10 PC, then choose All Apps, find and click to launch the Camera app on Windows 10 computer. The photo taking mode opens by default. Click on the three dots button at the top right corner to bring up a menu where you find the Photo timer and Settings. Click on Settings, you will get a screen like below.

Click on the Photos aspect ratio item and select between 4:3 and 16:9. You can change aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 or change aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 in the Camera app for photo shootings. If you are on an earlier Windows version, like Windows 8.1, Windows 8 or 7, the procedure is similar. The Camera app on Windows 10 however comes with limited functionalities, currently there are many basic features are missing, such as resolution settings of the photo, video aspect ratio settings, resolution settings for video recordings, video recording frame rates, etc.

The Camera app in Windows 10 is a nice app overall. It can do the basic things very well and in easy ways. When you want take a picture or record some videos using webcam, the Camera app is able to help. Best of all it is preinstalled for free.

Part 2. How to change aspect ratio of Camera app in Windows 11?

Microsoft has redesigned the built-in camera app in Windows 11. The Camera app in Windows 11 has reintroduced many valuable features that were absent in Windows 10.

Click on the Start menu in windows 11, then choose Camera app, or click All Apps, find and click to launch the Camera app on Windows 11 computer. You can also do a search for ‘camera’ in the search box to quickly find and start the Camera app in Windows 11. If your PC has a built-in camera or a connected webcam, you can use the Camera app to take photos and videos on Windows 11. To change the photo or video aspect ratio of the Camera app, click the Settings menu at the top left corner. Then scroll down to the Photo settings section, click Photo quality to expand the drop-down menu, and choose the photo profile you like, such as 0.9MP 16:9 (1280×720), 0.3MP 4:3 (640×480), 0.08MP 4:3 (320×240), 0.02MP 4:3 (160×120), 0.1MP 11:9 (352×288), 0.03MP 11:9 (176×144), etc. The options or profiles may vary across different computers.

To change a different video aspect ratio, click the Video quality in the Video settings section, then select a video profile, like 720p 16:9 30fps, 480p 4:3 30fps, 240p 4:3 30fps, 120p 4:3 30fps, 288p 11:9 30fps, 144p 11:9 30fps, etc.
