Foxmail is a freeware e-mail client developed by Tencent. You can use it to manage multiple email accounts. It’s very easy to use yet powerful enough. Many users however find it is in Chinese by default and can’t figure out how to change Foxmail to English. In fact, the installer comes with both Chinese and English. Since we don’t get the language selection option before setup, we have to install it on our PC, then follow below tricks to change its language to English.
Note that, during the setup process, the default installation folder will be selected for you automatically and you have the option to change its installation at the same time. For example, I changed its installation location from C drive to D:\Program Files which I install most of non-system apps on my Windows 10 computer.
Change Foxmail language to English – Solution 1
Head into its installation folder from Windows Explorer. It was installed to D:\Program Files\Foxmail, on my PC as mentioned above. Open this folder, then I get several files and sub-folders, like FoxmailUpdate, Global, Languages, Storage and so on. Open the Languages folder, you get the Language.ini file. Right click to open this .ini file with Notepad on your PC. Then change the default language from Chinese to English.
[Default] ActiveLang=EnglishSave the change of this Language.ini file. The next time you run Foxmail on your Windows computer, you will find the UI or language has been changed to English.
Change Foxmail language to English for Foxmail – Solution 2
Again browse to Foxmail installation folder from Windows Explorer. You get several files and sub-folders, like FoxmailUpdate, Global, Languages, Storage and so on. There will be a sub-folder named after the Formail version, like 7.2.17.xx, 7.2.16.xx, 7.2.15.xx, etc. Open this folder, then open Languages beneath it. Now you should see all available languages for Foxmail, Chinese.lgb, Chinese_big5 and English.lgb. You can simply rename or delete the two Chinese language files. The next time you run Foxmail, everything should be in English. Also note that, the language might roll back to Chinese when you update Formail program on your PC. So repeat the above steps to change it to English after that.
Change Foxmail language from its settings – Solution 3
In fact, you can also change Foxmail language from or to English from its settings. You have to be able to read both English and Chinese, if you like to jump into its settings to change language.
Once an email account was added to Foxmail, right click on the email account from the left navigation panel in Foxmail, choose Properties… from the contextual menu, the Option dialog pops up. Switch from Account to Common tab. Choose another language from the bottom and finally click Apply to save the change. Go to restart Foxmail, the new language applies the next time you run it.
