Change VLC screen & video recording save directory

You can use VLC media player to record what is played in the media player, video files, discs, webcams, devices and streams. You can refer to this tutorial to record videos in VLC media player on PC for more details.

By default all video recordings and screen recording with VLC will be save to the Videos folder in your system drive. The default recording directory and path in Windows 10 is C:\Users\your-user-name\Videos.

Sometimes however we may want to change the default record path for the videos in VLC player. To change video recording folder in VLC, go to the Tools menu, choose Preferences > Input/Codecs > Files > Record directory or filename.

It is blank by default and all video recordings will be saved to the default video recording path as specified in last paragraph. If you like to save the video recordings to a new path or folder, click the Browse button to pick up a new directory as the video recording folder. Finally hit the Save button to change the default video recording save path for VLC media player.
