Convert images to PDF using Adobe Acrobat

You may need to convert image files to PDF format when you plan to print, upload, send, share, view or manage them. Fortunately we can find the built-in support in both Mac and Windows OS. For batch conversion and advanced PDF settings though, you still need a more professional PDF editor. Adobe Acrobat Pro is the most popular PDF reader, creator and converter. To create PDF from pictures using Adobe Acrobat Pro is super easy.

Find the image files in File Explorer on your computer. Right click on the image file in JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF or other format, or select multiple images and right click on them, then choose Convert to Adobe PDF, the selected image(s) will be converted to PDF and opened in Acrobat instantly. Go to save the new PDF files from Files menu > Save or Save As and you are done. This method will convert each image into one PDF and save them as separate single-page PDF files on your computer.

Alternatively you can simply drag and drop the image(s) from their folder to the Adobe Acrobat shortcut on your computer desktop to convert them to PDF and open with Acrobat. After that go to save the from the File menu > Save.

Batch convert images to PDF in Adobe Acrobat

If you have many image files, say 100 or even more, need to convert to PDF, you can use its batch conversion tool. Go to File > Create > Create Multiple PDF Files.

Click Add Files button to add multiple files oven the whole folder for conversion to the list. Press OK when all the desired documents have been added. The Output Options dialogue opens where you can choose a folder on your computer to save the output PDF files and set the file names for them. Click OK button to convert all image files and save them as PDF files.

Combine multiple images to one PDF using Acrobat

Select all the images you like to convert and merge in File Explorer on your PC. Right click on them, choose Combine files in Acrobat… from the context menu. All selected pictures will open in Acrobat. You can drag and drop their thumbnails to re-arrange the order in the PDF file. When you have put them in the desired order, click the Combine button at the top right section.

Preview the merged PDF file. Then click the File menu, select Save from the drop-down menu and choose a location on your computer hard drive to save the merged images now in PDF format.

Alternatively you can rename the image files to sort them in the desired order in File Explorer. Then drag the selected images from their folder to Adobe Acrobat Pro shortcut on your desktop, you will get a dialogue with the option to put all images into one PDF.

Adobe Acrobat can create a single document from all the image files you are opening. Would you like to put all the image files into one document?

Click Yes to confirm and merge all added image files in one document. Finally go to export the document as PDF files from the Files menu.

Except the above two ways to combine and convert two or more image files into one single PDF, you can also achieve it following these steps. Click File from the top menu bar, select Create > Combine Files in a Single PDF….

Click Add Files button or drag and drop image files to the working area to import your images, photos, pictures from computer to Adobe Acrobat. Drag and drop the thumbnails to re-arrange the images. Finally click Combine button at the top right section, preview and save the PDF file with all images embedded to your computer.

Lock images in PDF using Adobe Acrobat

If need, you can add a password to protect images in the PDF file using Acrobat. There are two different types of passwords you can assign to a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat:

  • Document Open password: A password that needs to be entered to open a document;
  • Document change permission password: A password that protects the contents of a PDF file.
