Convert subtitles from IDX, SUB to SRT on Mac

Submerge is a subtitles app that can merge hardcoded subtitles to videos, movies and TV shows on Mac. It supports many text-based subtitle formats as input, like srt, sub, itt, stl ass/ssa and vtt. In this tutorial, we will show you how it can convert subtitles from Sub, Idx or other format to Srt, the most popular text based subtitle format.

Get the subtitles app here first. Launch Submerge on your Mac. You will be prompted to open a video or movie when it starts. Simply choose any video from Finder and add it to the subtitles program. We are going to convert the subtitles from one format to another other than burning subtitles to video in this demo. Click the subtitles icon at the bottom right section, choose Add Subtitles > From file ….. Find the subtitles you want to convert in Finder, could it be in IDX, SUB or other format, and import it to the subtitles app. After that, click the subtitles icon again, you should now see the added subtitle in the Subtitles list. Click the Action menu(gear icon), choose Export > SRT. Choose a file name for the SRT subtitle and location to save it.
