FFmpeg is a free and open-source software project designed for command-line-based processing of video and audio files. We found it is widely used for format transcoding, basic editing, even many paid media converters are actually based on FFmpeg. In an earlier post, we introduced ShanaEncoder for Windows which is also based on FFmpeg. Unlike many other video or audio conveters, this one however is free. It is easy to use and under constant development.
If you are looking for a free video converter, you should try this out. See how to convert videos on Windows computer with ShanaEncoder below.
Download this free video encoder from previously linked page onto your PC. Install and run it, you will see its home screen like this.
If your PC support GPU acceleration, go to its Preferences menu, choose Hardware decoding, and activate it.
Drag and drop source videos from your computer to the encoding program or click File > Add Files or File > Add > Add Folder to import videos. Then hit the Quick settings below the video file list. You can customize many parameters of the video and audio, such as file format, video codec, quality, frame rate, key frame, size, audio codec, audio bitrate, sample rate, and many more.
Finally hit the Start button at the bottom to start converting the videos. By default the output videos will be saved to your desktop. Wait until the video conversion completes and go find them on your desktop after that. It is just that easy to convert your videos and audios on PC with this free media conversion program.
Other than convering video or audio from one format to another, this free media encoder can also be used to compress high quality videos, movies so you can easily share or send them over the internet. This can be easily done by adjusting its video parameters in the Quick Settings panel.
