Have you ever wanted to use a voice recording or sound narration in a project which requires MP3 format? Windows 10 comes with the native audio recorder, the Voice Recorder, which you can use to record any sound, voice, music through microphone. Unfortunately it can’t save sound recordings as MP3 in Windows 10. Instead it saves your voice recordings as M4A files encoded with advanced audio coding (AAC). A workaround is to use a third-party sound recorder to record sound as MP3, WAV files in Windows 10. For existing audio recordings, we can use an audio editor to convert them from M4A to MP3 or other file format you want. In an earlier post, we explained how iPhone voice memos can be converted to MP3 using a media converter. Today, we will use the same audio/video editor program on a Windows 10 PC to convert voice recordings to MP3.
Download media converter
First of all, get this audio & video converter and install it on your Windows PC. It is a multi-purpose media tool which can convert audios, videos, download online movies, burn audios videos to DVD, transfer music and videos to mobile devices, record computer screen and so on.
Add voice recordings to the converter
Find where the sound recordings are saved in Windows 10. Run the media converter on your Windows 10 computer. The recordings can be added to the audio converter in two different ways. Click the Add Files button at the upper left section, navigate to the folder where the recordings reside, select and add them to the conversion program. Or you can simply drag and drop the sound recordings from File Explorer to the converter software.
Convert voice recordings to MP3
You can choose MP3 as the target audio format from the upper right section of the converter. Then hit the Convert All button at the bottom right corner to convert all selected voice recordings to MP3 file format. The created MP3 version of sound recordings will be saved to the output folder of the converter program. You can find the location at the bottom of the conversion tool. Click the Open Folder button besides the Output box to quickly open the folder in File Explorer in Windows 10.
