Convert webp images using Preview on Mac

WebP is new image format which is not as user-friendly as JPEG, PNG. If you have downloaded webp images from the internet and don’t know how to open, view or edit them on Mac, this quick guide is just for you. Today, we will walk you through the easy steps to convert webp images to JPG, JPEG, PNG or TIFF using Preview on Mac. Note that if your Mac is not up-to-date and the Preview doesn’t read or support those WebP images, you can still follow this tutorial to open, view, convert WebP images on Mac using a free image editor. Double click the webp image from Finder, it should opens in Preview automatically. Or launch the Preview app, click File > Open, to browse to the webp image and open it in Preview app on your Mac. After that, click File > Export, the Export As dialog opens as follows.

In the Export As box, you can rename the file; Select a different folder from the Where box to choose the location to save the image; click the Format drop-down menu to set the desired image format, PNG, JPEG, HEIC, TIFF or else; optionally choose the Quality. Finally hit Save button to convert webp to other image format you want and save it to the selected location on your Mac.
