Edit video speed in Camtasia

Do you want to make your video faster or slower in Camtasia? Camtasia allows users to speed up or slow down their videos. In this quick guide, we will show you how to change the video speed in Camtasia for Mac. If you use its Windows version on a PC, you may see some difference in appearance.

Import the media to Camtasia media library. Drag the video to the timeline.

Split video

If you want to change playback speed of only a portion of the whole video, select the start and end frame of the video part, then split to get a new video clip.

Separate video and audio

You can choose to keep the audio track at the original pace, or change the speed together with video, or mute the audio altogether. Since your video may sound creepy when you increase or decrease the video playback speed, it is a good idea to mute the video clip.

Right click on the video clip, choose Separate video and audio from the pop-up menu, then delete the audio track on the timeline to mute your video.

Edit video speed

Choose Visual Effects from the upper left panel, then find Clip Speed, which allows you to play a video clip faster or slower than its natural pace, in the tools panel. Drag Clip Speed to a clip on the timeline to apply. You will then see a white triangle above the video clip on the timeline. Click the triangle to open the effects tray. You will see Clip Speed – 1x above the video clip which means the video plays at its normal speed. Click Clip Speed above the video clip on the timeline to highlight it. It will become orange in color and two clock icons appear at the start and end of the video clip.
