MP4/h.264 video Support on Firefox for Android

Also since Firefox 17 for Android, it begins to support html5-based H.264 video. Prior to this release, Firefox mobile supports only other two HTML 5 based video, WebM and Ogg. HTML5 allows users to easily embed videos without the need of any browser plugin or video player. Your browser is your player. And it is extremely easy to embed the HTML5 videos in websites.

According to Mozilla, Firefox currently supports H.264 playback on any device running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and any Samsung device running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

It requires hardware decoder support. If your mobile device has no H.264 decompression capabilities though, you’re out of luck.

Firefox is a web browser with lots of useful features, for example it allows you to make free video calls right on your browser, you can enter into reader view mode in Firefox for best reading experience, etc.
