“Everything” is a free search engine that locates files and folders by filename instantly for Windows. Unlike Windows search “Everything” initially displays every file and folder on your computer (hence the name “Everything”). You type in a search filter to limit what files and folders are displayed.
Small installation file
For example, Everything version 220.127.116.112 installer is only 1521 KB.
Clean and simple user interface
Everything contains search window, results, view, search, bookmarks, tools and help. Very easy to navigate.
Quick file indexing
Indexing can take a few seconds. A fresh install of Windows 10 (about 120,000 files) will take about 1 second to index. 1,000,000 files will take about 1 minute.
Type in a partial filename in the search box at the top to begin. No longer need to wait for long time when you need to find something on your PC. Type in the keywords in its search box, Everything will list all related files on your computer instantly.
Minimal resource usage
“Everything” uses very little system resources. A fresh install of Windows 10 (about 120,000 files) will use about 14 MB of ram and less than 9 MB of disk space. 1,000,000 files will use about 75 MB of ram and 45 MB of disk space.
An index of all your local NTFS volumes is created when running Everything for the first time. “Everything” does monitor file system changes. Your search windows will reflect changes made to the file system.
