How to lock notes on Mac?

You can set a password to protect your notes created in the Notes app on Mac since Mac OS 10.11.4. This feature is very helpful when you want to protect sensitive information in the notes. How to lock notes on Mac?

Launch the stock Notes app on Mac. Create a new note or select an existing note that you wish to lock with a password. Click on the Lock icon in the top toolbar of the Notes app for Mac. Then choose “Lock Note” from the drop down menu and enter the password to lock it.

Now you have enabled password protection for this selected note. It’s open though. To immediately lock notes, click the Lock icon from the toolbar, choose Close All Locked Notes or quit the Notes app to automatically lock all notes.

When you try to open a locked note, you will need to enter your password to view, edit or delete it.

Can’t lock notes on Mac?
