MacDroid

Just as its name implies, MacDroid is a program that helps users easily copy files between Mac and Android devices just like you copy files from/to any other external hard drive.

MacDroid add devices via ADB mode

MacDroid Features

  • Mount Android as a disk on Mac
  • Both internal and external storages of Android can be mounted
  • Supports all Android and MTP devices
  • Supports file sharing over MTP and ADB
  • You can even move entire folders between your Mac and Android
  • You don’t have to transfer Android files to Mac to edit them. Directly edit files on Android without copying them on to Mac.

How to connect Android phones?

The setup is fairly easy. Simply connect your Android device to your Mac via USB. Start the file transfer app on Mac, select MTP mode in the app, you can then access your Android and its content directly from the Finder on Mac. The app also support file transfer via the ADB mode.

ADB is short for Android Debug Bridge. It is a versatile tool and a part of the Android SDK platform-tools package which is often used by Android developers. In order to share files with Android, you have to enable Developer Options on your Android device, then further enable the USB Debugging option within it. The Developer Options are hidden by default as an extra layer of security. We have explained how you can turn this option on in several posts before. See how to enable Developer options and USB Debugging on Xiaomi, Redmi phones and this guide to enable Developer options & USB Debugging on Huawei mobile.

Copy Files between Android and Mac

Since your Android device is mounted like any portable hard drive, you can access files on Android from Finder. Browse to the files and directories on your Android or Mac, then copy them over.

It comes with both Free and Pro versions. The free version allows you to transfer files from Android to Mac, not the other way around.
