How to password protect your USB Drive using USB Secure?

With USB Secure your USB flash drives and all other external storage devices can be very easily password protected. An easy to use setup program will guide you to put the program on your USB drive. It can automatically detect all such drives currently plugged into your PC. After installing simply run the software, and set and confirm a password to protect USB drive and all the data in it. Check out the detailed instructions with screenshots below.

Download the USB Secure software onto to PC. You will get an .exe file. Connect your USB drive to computer. Copy or move the USB Secure file from your PC to your connected USB drive. Double click to run it from your USB drive. You will then see a screen like this.

Click Yes. Then type in the password and confirm to setup the password to protect your USB drive. You will need it to access or unlock files in the future, so make sure it is easy to remember but hard to guess.

Hit Done button. You will be taken to the screen where you can lock USB drive, Unlock USB drive, select certain files to lock or unlock, view locked files, etc. Click Options button at the bottom left corner to reveal and tweak more settings.

To access your data again, it is important that you plug-in your USB drive into the computer and choose the ‘Open this USB drive with password’ option from the Windows Autoplay that pops up every time you plug-in your USB drive. You can also double click the USB drive in your PC to launch the program. If however your autoplay is disabled, you can also alternatively run the USB Secure.exe in your USB drive. To unprotect your secure USB drives, click ‘Unprotect’ and enter correct password to access your data again.

You don’t need to set a new password every time you protect USB drive, however you can change your current password at any time. To change your current password, click ‘Options’ enter your currently set password and then set and confirm a new password.
