Record audio files with Adobe Audition in Windows 10

Windows 10 has the built-in sound recording software, the Voice Recorder. It is clean and easy to use. Your voice recordings will be saved as M4A files automatically. Record sound using Adobe Audition

Launch Adobe Audition on your computer. We will use Audition CC 2018 on a Windows 10 PC in the demo below. If you use a different version of this audio editor, you may find some difference in appearance. Just hit the red Record button below the Editor windows in the workspace of Audition, the New Audio File dialog pops up where you can choose a different file name, sample rate, channels and bit depth. You can leave them unchanged unless you have special requirements. Press the OK button to start recording your microphone input directly into Audition. You will see the waveform in the Editor window when you speak. You can pause the recording anytime in the recording process by clicking the Pause button. Press on the same button again to resume your recording. When you are finished, click the Stop button to complete the audio recording in Audition.

Play the recording in Audition and optionally edit the sound recording. When you are satisfied with the recording, go to export it from File menu > Save. The Save As window pops up with options you can change before saving your audio recording to your Windows 10 PC. You have the options here to change file name, location, format, sample type, etc. Audition supports a wide range of output formats. You can choose to save your audio recordings as WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC, WMA, 3GP, OGG and many others.
