Recover Deleted Facebook Messenger Chats and Messages on iPhone

Do you use Facebook Messenger app on your iOS device? If you had been living with Facebook Messenger for a while, you may build up a very long chat history within the Messenger on iPhone. Some of these chat history, like messages or conversations are a bit outdated and you want to clear up. Your Facebook conversations will be displayed chronologically in the Recent section. Sometimes you may accidentally delete the wrong thread with important messages and information contained. How can we recover the deleted Facebook messages? Facebook or its Messenger app for iPhone do not allow users to retrieve deleted messages or conversation within the Messenger app. Facebook recommends its users to archive messages in Messenger if they want to hide a message or back up Facebook data and Messenger chat history to computer regularly. Only when you are sure to get rid of a message permanently, you can delete or remove it within Messenger on iPhone without backing up the chat history first. Is there any way to retrieve deleted Facebook messages and conversation on iPhone? The short answer is yes, but you will need to use a professional data recovery software. In an earlier guide, we have demonstrated how to recover deleted chats and messages in WhatsApp for iPhone. In fact, you can also use the same tool to get back your Facebook Messenger chats and messages. Please read specific instructions below.

How to deleted Facebook Messenger chats and messages on iPhone?

To delete a Facebook conversation on iPhone, swipe left over the thread you will have the options to delete, archive, mark it as spam, or mute the thread or conversation. To delete a single Facebook message in Messenger on iPhone, open the conversation or thread in Facebook Messenger, press and hold the message you like to remove from within a Messenger thread, you will then get a pop-up menu with items to copy, delete or forward the select Facebook message on iPhone.

How to recover deleted Messenger chats and messages on iPhone?

Before we continue to Messenger data recovery, please download the iPhone data recovery software on to your PC or Mac at first. We will need to connect our iPhone to computer through USB, then use this recovery program to scan iPhone for the lost Facebook Messenger data including conversations, messages, and attached photos, videos or other files in the chat history.

Step 1. Connect iPhone to Computer

Connect up your iPhone to PC or Mac through the USB data cable. We will use the iOS data recovery software to recover the lost or deleted data from Facebook Messenger app on iPhone.

Step 2. Scan iPhone for deleted Facebook messages

Now run iPhone data recovery software on your computer, allow it to scan your iPhone storage. The scanning process takes a while. Once it has finished, you will get a screen like this.

Step 3. Recover deleted Facebook Messenger chat history

To recover deleted Facebook Messenger chat history or messages, click to check the conversation thread, then click the Recover button from the bottom right corner, you will then get a pop-up dialogue where you can choose to recover the lost Facebook messages from iPhone to computer or back on to your iPhone.

All the selected Facebook messages will be saved to your computer in two copies, HTML file and CSV file. You can use any web browser on your computer to browse the recovered Facebook Messenger chats history in saved in HTML format. Or you can use Microsoft Excel or other text editor to open and read your Facebook messages in CSV format. Attachments in Messenger chats will be exported and saved on computer in the same format as they were on iPhone.
