Recover Deleted text messages from Samsung mobile phone
Make sure not to use your phone before we are going to retrieve the lost text SMS on Samsung smartphones with the Android Data Recovery application. It is because any new data saved in the storage may erase or overwrite those deleted data on your mobile device.
There are four steps to retrieve lost text messages on Samsung mobiles:
Step 1. Enable USB Debugging on Samsung phone
If you are not familiar with this option and want to know what is USB debugging, when and how to enable or disable this option on a Android device, you can refer to an early post here: How to enable USB debugging mode on Samsung mobile phones?.
The Android data recovery tool will also prompt you to enable USB debugging before you can use it to recover data from Samsung smart phones. Different Android versions may differ in appearance or settings of this option.
Step 2. Connect up your Samsung mobile to computer
Now connect your Samsung cell phone to computer with the USB data cord. The Android data recovery program for Windows PC or Mac OS X can automatically detect your mobile device connection.
Step 3. Scan Samsung mobile phone
The Samsung data rescue utility will need to firstly analyze your mobile device and temporary root will apply in order to retrieve the maximum data from your phone’s storage. After that you will have the option to scan Samsung phone storage. Since all files, external SD cards, internal memory will be scanned, it may take some time to complete.
The Android phone data recovery is capable of retrieving many different file types, you will have an option as shown in below screen capture to select which file type you want to get back. Currently you can get back mobile contacts, text messages, WhatsApp messages & attachments, Gallery, Audio, Videos, Documents from your Samsung tablets and mobiles. By default all file types will be selected. However it takes more time compared to recover specific files. In this case, we are going to recover deleted text messages from Samsung phone, we can check only Messaging and uncheck other options to save a lot of time in scanning the whole mobile device and all its data.
Step 4. Preview and Retrieve deleted text messages from Samsung mobile
The scan result will be organized into different group in the left side navigation menu. Click Messages to display all found text messages in the middle column.
If you click on a specific contact or number, you can review the details about the messages on the right column, such as message content, date. Right above the text SMS window, there will be an option ‘Only display deleted item’, you can turn it on to narrow down the search. You can tick the first box to quickly select and deselect all text message. You will have three choices to recover the lost text messages from your Samsung mobile phone, right click on the selected messages, you will find options to recover only the highlighted SMS message, recover selected SMS messages, recover all text messages.

Have Galaxy S-7.
Downloaded and ran Dr. Fone (Trial version)
the S7 is hung at 90% and in a repeated (every 2-3 min) reboot.
was trying to recover deleted text messages.
I’m (my phone) we are dead in the water…it is my only source of work communications
hi, this issue has been forwarded to our support team. they will get back to you through email.
Mine did the same thing, lol
I still haven’t figured out how to make this work…
Does the free trial just not work?
I have an Samsung S5 and deleted a message in error but since have communicated with this contact, can I still retrieve the older message(s)?
it is hard to say. it will only work when the deleted messages have not been overwritten by new data saved on the phone.
i tried the data recovery on my samsung j7 prime.. when it was aroung 90%, it became unresponsive and my phone switched off.. until now, i can’t switch it on.. help!
sorry for the inconvenience caused. you can try to uninstall its battery, wait for sometime before you re-install it, then power on the phone again see if any luck. If the problem persists, please send us the log files as shown from this picture so our support team can look into the issue and provide specific instructions.
I ran the trial version and it seemed to work fine. However, some of the recovered text messages don’t show the entire message and include a series of asterisks. As an example: Hey, I’ll meet y**********************************
Other messages show a bunch of different characters and I think those have been overwritten. Does the series of asterisks *********** show the data has been overwritten or is this because the trial version doesn’t show the message in it’s entirety? Will the full purchased version reveal the entire message?
Sir please update me that can I reterieve the recorded audio data from the Samsung Glaxy S6 which i deleted 5 months ago? After deleting the audio files I may update the mbile software more than 3 times. Is it possible to reterive the data? Please help thanks.
the chance to get them back is slim. but if they are very important and still worth a try, you can go to download the Android phone data recovery software on to your PC, connect your phone to PC via USB, then run the recovery program, select the audio file type and scan your phone see if any luck. note that the free trial version allows you to scan Android devices and preview data, in order to extract those found data to computer, you will need to buy the full version.
