WhatsApp will not keep a full backup of users chats on their server. Generally speaking the auto backup of WhatsApp chats contains only the chat history of the last 7 days.

I was locked out of my iphone so I had to restore it. Once I did everything came back to me except my whats app messages. I back up my iphone to itunes on a weekly basis so I was shocked that no one of my messages appeared.
I have all my Whatsapp messages backed up on Itunes but not on icloud.
I used a third party software which has found that in my itunes I have 52,899 messages available for recovery,
I am desperate to get them back on my iphone, all my messages are done on whats app and I don’t know want to lose them.
I would like to get them all back on my iphone displaying how they once were. I have managed to extract all messages in a weird HTML format to my desktop, but I just want my whats app messages back on my iphone.

When you notice the data loss, you should stop using your phone and follow above instructions to retrieve the lost data as soon as possible.
