All Android mobiles, like Samsung, HTC, Sony, Motorola smartphones, have a feature called Factory Data Reset. In this article, we will explain what will Factory Data Reset do? When would we need to perform Factory Reset on our mobile phones? What can we to if we want to get back or recover data after Factory Reset on our Android smartphones?
This feature is to erase all device settings, user data, third party apps, and associated application data. Basically it is a software restore of your mobile to its original system state. When you perform a Factory Reset on Android device, you will return the mobile or tablet to the condition it was in when shipped from the factory. Android Factory Reset can wipe any data from an Android device’s internal flash storage, thus you will lose any info saved in the internal memory, like contacts, messages, call logs, photos, videos, music files, documents, etc. Factory reset usually does not erase data or applications stored on external or removable storage. However you may have the option associated to erase the external storage of your mobile as well.
There are many situations you would need to use Factory Reset to erase data on your mobile phones. For example, when you plan to sell your Samsung Galaxy S5 or S4 with lots of personal data on it. When your HTC Desire or HTC One becoming very slow and you can’t fix it with other possible solutions. When you find your Sony, Nexus phone or LG phone freezes frequently and you have little chance of fixing it using other methods. Maybe wiping the phone clean and get a fresh start is the best overall option sometimes.

Steps to recover data after Factory Reset without backups
Important Tips:
- Stop using your Android mobile phone for now, as new data saving to your phone will overwrite those deleted data and make them unrecoverable. Those deleted data will be saved somewhere in your memory, although invisible, they are waiting to be overwritten by new data, so to get them back with this Android data recovery program, you need to avoid data overwriting.
- You can download the free trial version on to your Mac or PC. This version allows you to scan your mobile phone and preview lost data, it however does not support data recovery from phone to computer. You need to buy the full version in order to recover data.
- Try before you buy. There is no guarantee that it will work for all phones. So only if you are satisfied with the trial version, should you consider to buy the full version.

Hi All. Is it possible to recover deleted black Berry messages from a Galaxy S6. I tried other tools….but they said it is not supported. Please help me.
Thx
Hi,
I recently dropped my phone and cracked the screen. After which, the password pattern didn’t get recognized (screen’s input mechanism was messed up). I entered the password wrong many times, which resulted in a forced factory reset of my LG G2 (Android v5.0.2). Since, then I have not updated the device or even used it. After searching online, for hours and hours, I have mixed feelings about chances of data being recovered. Does the tool you recommend work for such a scenario?
If it does not work, are there other, more advanced methods I could try?
Thanks in advance.
This method requires you to have USB debugging enabled on the phone already. It is an option under Developer Options on Android phones. If this setting is not activated yet, it can not help you.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply. The phone is operational. I have turned on the USB debugging. However, my question is that whether I’ll be able to get anything off the device since it was factory reset. And a lot of online forums/tools support say that, there is NO hope for data recovery after a factory reset. I am wondering if you think the same?
your welcome.
The chance is slim. currently no recovery software can guarantee it will work. we are working hard to improve the performance of this tool.
Fair enough. I want to give it a shot. So is this the same tool as Dr. Fone for Android by Wondershare or is it different? Thanks.
Hi. I have lost all my data after the factory reset. I do not have any backup and I have done a few updates after that. Please advise if it is still possible for me to recover my lost data. Thanks.
You can try the above android phone data recovery solution. there is a chance you can get back lost data. You can try your luck, there is no guarantee though.
i accidently did factory reset and everything is gone, i’m mainly concerned about my WhatsApp messages as they had some important info in them. So the factory reset deleted the WhatsApp program, should i re-install WhatsApp first then run your recovery software, or run the software first then re-install WhatsApp?
Thanks!
You can refer to this tutorial to recover deleted WhatsApp messages from Android phone.
There are different ways to retrieve WhatsApp chats. Since the re-install method can only restore chats from the last 7 days and by re-installing, you may actually overwrite those deleted data on mobile phone, we suggest you to download the recovery software on to a computer and use it to scan WhatsApp data on the phone first. You can refer to above linked page for more details.
hi matt..!
my phone model is Qmobile android 4.2.2 version …how can i restore my call log history because by mistake without creating a backup i reset my phone 2 months ago .. now i need some important incoming call history ..
you can download the above data recovery software for android phone on to your computer, then connect up your phone to computer and use the recovery software to scan your phone for lost data on it. Call log history is a supported data type, you have the chance to get them back. However since the data was deleted long time ago, the chance is slim though.
