iBooks is the stock e-Books reader and PDF reader app on iPhone iPad. You can download PDF files from websites to your iOS device; if the PDF files are saved on your PC, you can also transfer PDF doc from computer to iPhone iPad, save and manage these PDF files using iBooks app. When you have stored many PDF documents in iBooks, it will become difficult to find the PDF files you need especially when they do not have descriptive titles. You must rename the PDF files in iBooks so you can quickly find any PDF doc you want. However it turns out it is not very straightforward to do that. In this article, we will demonstrate how you can change PDF documents names in iBooks on iPhone iPad with screenshots.Please also note that we are using an iPad which is running on iOS 9 and these instructions may not work with iBooks in certain iOS versions.
How to rename PDF files in iBooks on iPhone iPad?
To change PDF file names or edit PDF files’ titles can be done in just several touches, however it is just not very obvious. Thus many iPhone iPad users do not know how to do it. We are using an iPad in this demo, the same instructions also apply to iPhone iPod touch as well.
Run the iBooks app on your iPhone or iPad. You can touch the books/PDF files view mode button to switch between List view and Thumbnails view. Make sure to enable the List view in iBooks app. Then touch the category or file types button to switch to the PDFs category in iBooks on iPhone or iPad.Now all your PDF files are listed in the List view mode in iBooks app on iOS device. You can see a screen like below.
To change title or name of a PDF file in iBooks is easy, touch the Select icon at the top right corner, you will see a round circle shows up before each PDF document. You do not need to touch the circle to select a PDF file first. You can directly touch the PDF title to rename it. When you have edited the PDF file name, touch the Done button at the top right corner to save the change and you are done.
The rename of PDF files in iBooks on iPhone iPad is not difficult, it is just not intuitive. Apple should make the iBooks interface more straightforward so we do not have to search on Google about how PDF in iBooks can be renamed. It should be a very simply question, but iBooks makes it difficult. As we mentioned above, the instructions may not work with iBooks app in certain old iOS versions,if you can’t seem to get it work on your iPhone or iPad, maybe you may consider to upgrade your iOS system.
