Note that you will need to wipe all data in Recovery mode if you want to update to a discontinuous ROM version, or downgrade to an older ROM version using MIUI full ROM pack. Thus we highly recommend to back up any personal important data first.

How to grant certain apps the root permissions on Xiaomi & Redmi phones?

Now you are using the Developer ROM on your Xiaomi or Redmi phone. If certain apps require root users privileges or rights on the phone and you trust these apps, you can grant the root or superuser permissions to them.To do that, run the Security app, which is pre-installed on all Xiaomi and Redmi phones. Then choose Permissions >> Allow root access. You can also access it from Settings >> Permissions>> Allow root access.

You will then see a warning alert like below.

Allowing root access is extremely risky and may expose your device and personal data to attacks from malicious apps. You agree that you are solely responsible for any damage to your device or loss of data that may result from allowing root access.

Tap on “I understand the risk of root access” option, then tap on the Root access button to start adding root permissions to third party apps installed on your Xiaomi or Redmi phone. During the process of granting apps root access on Xiaomi phone, you may get the warning about 5 times, so you have to tap on the Next button for five times before the root access can be applied to the selected app on Xiaomi phone.
