After enabling screen lock on my Samsung Galaxy mobile phone, I want to disable it, but the screen lock settings display that all screen lock options, except for pin pattern and password, are turned off by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
I can’t remove lock screen from Samsung phone or add lock pattern. I have not encrypted device or external SD card on the phone. Thus I thought by turning off device administrators on Samsung phone could help solve the problem. Samsung phone settings and some apps are locked using some security app on my phone and I have granted it the administration privileges. I have disabled the administrators on the phone from Settings > Security > Device Administrators, but still not able to change the screen lock options on the mobile. Finally clear credentials on the phone did the trick. On my Samsung phone, I went to Settings > Security > Clear Credentials and remove all certificates from there and the problem has been solved.
Although this simple trick worked for me, it might not for anyone who’s screen lock options are disabled. Clear Credentials is just one of the possible reasons your screen lock options are turned off. There could be other reason as well, such as administrator apps, device encryption, SD card encryption. Some Android users even said that setup VPN account on the phone would cause the lock screen security problem.
