In a previous guidance, we mentioned how you can import files and documents from computer to Kindle via USB. This is the best way to transfer books and other personal files to Kindle when the Kindle and/or your computer can’t get a data connection during a tip or when you need to quickly share many books or files across different devices of your own. It is fast and easy. What you have to do is connecting your Kindle via USB cable, the Kindle goes into USB drive mode and its battery is recharged by the computer, it appears as a removable mass-storage device on your PC or Mac, simply drag and drop, or copy and paste the books or other compatible files from your computer’s hard drive to the Kindle.
Other than that, we can also send documents to our Kindle by e-mailing it to a personalized Kindle e-mail address or use its desktop application called Send to Kindle. Here’s how to use Send to Kindle for Windows which allows you to send personal documents to your Kindle device from your PC.
- Step 1: Download and install Send to Kindle program on your PC.
- Step 2: Launch this program on your computer, you will be asked to register Send to Kindle. Enter your Amazon account e-mail address and password, then click the “Register” button.
- Step 3. Send books from PC to Kindle via the context menu, drag-n-drop or the print option.
Select one or more files, then right-click and click on Send to Kindle; or drag and drop files onto the Send to Kindle program; or from within any Windows program, select “Print,” then choose “Send to Kindle” as your printer.
When the Send to Kindle window pops up, optionally edit the book title and/or author, select the delivery options and destination device, then click the “Send” button.
After a few minutes, the transferred books and documents should automatically appear in the list of books on your Kindle. If not, sync your Kindle to initiate the download.
One last note, the Send to Kindle program lets you add multiple documents to your Kindle account, but you won’t be able to send large files which exceed the 50MB limit. If you need to send files bigger than 50 MB, attach your Kindle via USB to copy them over from your desktop or laptop.
