Video Converter Ultimate has a built-in plugin called Media Server which can help users stream their media library content from computer to TV sets. This media streaming tool has been employed for quite some time, however it seems to be underused. Nowadays almost every household has a smart TV. For better visual experience watching high quality movies and videos, why not cast screen from your PC to HD TV or UHD TV? In this article, we’ll share two ways you can play movies on PC to TV’s big screen.
Cast screen from computer to TV using a cable
You have to choose an applicable cable for wired connection according to the video output ports of your PC and video input ports your TV set has. Generally speaking, your PC should have a VGA port and an HDMI port. You can use either of them to establish the connection with your TV. Smart TVs may have VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. If both your PC and TV have HDMI ports, get an HDMI to HDMI cable with the same kind of connector on both ends. HDMI can help you stream both image and audio with higher quality from PC to TV and it is usually very cheap. HDMI cables can also eliminate the need for a separate audio cable. A VGA to VGA cable can only stream video not audio, a separate audio cable is required if you want to stream audio as well. Note that the two connectors of the cable can be different.
Plug the HDMI wire into both PC and smart TV, you may see your PC’s screen being mirrored to TV’s screen instantly. The HDMI port on your PC should be found at the left side of your PC. The HDMI port on TV is usually on the back of the TV set. If you are unable to connect PC to TV using a cable, head to display settings on your computer to activate output to TV screen by extending screen, cloning or duplicating screen. On your TV side, choose the input source to the connected HDMI port. If you do not have an applicable cable for wired connection and screencast between PC and TV, or you just can’t figure out how to mirror screen from computer to TV, you can refer to following wireless video streaming solution.
