Transfer books between Kindle app and computer using iTunes

Saved some books in Kindle app and want to read them on your PC or Mac with bigger screen? Have a large connection of ebooks on your computer and like to upload some to your mobile phone or tablet so you can read the book anywhere on the go? Kindle for iOS is the most popular book reading app on App Store. Amazon has a huge collection of Kindle books, magazines and comics you can choose from. Other that that, you can also add ebooks in various formats, mobi, prc, pdf, downloaded or purchased from third-party resources to your Kindle app. In this quick guide, we will use iTunes to transfer Kindle books between Kindle on iPhone iPad and your Windows PC or Mac computer using iTunes File Sharing. The Kindle app support the iTunes File Sharing, all your books will be saved in its Documents folder. This makes the books import and export to or from Kindle app very easy.

Run iTunes on your PC or Mac. We will use iTunes on a Windows 10 computer in this demo. Then connect your iPhone or iPad to computer via USB. Press Trust this computer button on your iOS device screen when you see this prompt. Only after that can you connect to the device from PC or Mac through USB.

In iTunes, click the iPhone or iPad icon from the upper left section, go to Settings > Apps. Scroll down to the File Sharing section, choose Kindle app from the app list to open the Kindle Documents folder in iTunes. See below screenshot.

  • Click Add File… to browse to the folder on your computer where the books are saved, select and import them from your PC or Mac to Kindle Documents folder directly. Click Done button to complete. Go to open the Kindle app on your iPhone or iPad, you should now receive and find the books in your Kindle Library.
  • To download books from Kindle app to your computer, select the books in from the Kindle Documents folder, then click Save to…, choose a folder on your computer hard drive to save the Kindle books.
