VMware Workstation

VMware Workstation is the most popular virtual machine software for Windows. It allows us to run multiple operating systems on a single Windows PC. If you want to install the second OS, such as Windows or Linus, on Mac, you can use Parallels Desktop instead.

Workstation Workstation allows users to run multiple operating systems including Windows 10, Windows 8.X, Windows 7, Windows XP, Ubuntu, Red Hat, SUSE, Oracle Linux, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Mint, CentOS, Mac OS and more, as virtual machines on a single PC. Workstation provides developers an isolated and safe environment to evaluate new operating systems and test software applications, patches and reference architectures. Users can also replicate server, desktop and tablet environments on a virtual machine, to run applications simultaneously across operating systems without rebooting.

VMware Workstation Pro works by creating fully isolated, secure virtual machines that encapsulate an operating system and its applications. The VMware virtualization layer maps the physical hardware resources to the virtual machine’s resources, so each virtual machine has its own CPU, memory, disks, and I/O devices, and is the full equivalent of a standard x86 machine.

VMware Workstation is the equivalent of a full PC. Any application that will run on a standard PC will run inside a virtual machine on VMware Workstation.
