Many camera apps and scanner apps on our smartphones can read QR codes. Most of them however require your camera on the phone. If your camera is broken, they can’t scan QR codes. Sometimes, you may need to scan a QR code on your phone screen, QR code appears on your phone browser, scan saved images of QR code on the phone. Under such situations, a regular camera app or scanner app is helpless. WeChat is a popular instant messenger which plenty of useful features. In an earlier post, we discussed how you can scan QR code with WeChat on iPhone. Except QR codes scanning using iPhone’s camera, it can also recognize QR codes in image files saved in your Camera Roll or Photos app.
Save the QR code image to your Camera roll if not yet. If it was a QR code displayed on web pages, you can capture screen on iPhone to save it as picture. If the QR code was on your computer screen, you can capture screen on Windows 10 or take a screen on Mac to save it as image and transfer it to your mobile phone.
Run WeChat, switch to Discover tab from the bottom, choose Scan, then select the saved QR code from Album.
In this way, you can scan QR code on your screen, scan QR code appears on your phone browser and scan saved images of QR code on iPhone for free using WeChat app.
