Our smartphones can now capture HD videos or even UHD videos. But these media files are very large and take up a lot of precious space on our mobile phones. If your phone have a limited storage capacity or you need to reclaim more free space for new photos, videos, app or other files, you can optimize the videos. For example, you can reduce the resolution to get smaller videos and thus save more storage space. In this article, we will use an Android powered LG mobile phone to show you how to change video size, resolution and aspect ratio from Camera settings or using the built-in editor tool on LG and other Android smartphones. Change video size, resolution and aspect ratio from camera settings
The stock Camera app on LG mobile phone allows users to customize its settings to suit their needs.
Open the Camera app on LG phone, touch the Settings (gear icon) at the top left corner to open the Settings menu on your LG mobile phone.
Tap on Video resolution to set a new video resolution and aspect ratio from there, such as UHD 3840×2160, FHD 16:9 1920×1080, HD 18:9 1440×720, HD 16:9 1280×720, and 120HD Slow Motion.
Note that the settings on different phones may differ, adjust the settings to your preferences. Since then all new videos captured on the phone will be saved in the new resolution and aspect ratio and the final video size will reflect the change accordingly.
Edit video size, resolution and aspect ratio on LG phone
If you have not changed the camera settings beforehand, you still have the chance to edit video size, resolution and aspect ratio on LG mobile phone using a video editor app. The stock Camera app on LG mobile also has the power you will need to edit video resolution, aspect ratio and size on LG phone.
Run the Camera app, find the video or movie you like to edit, tap to play it. At the upper right corner of the video player, touch the Edit (pencil icon), you can then find different tools to edit the selected video on LG phone. See below screenshot.
Touch Resolution at the top left corner on your phone screen, the Resolution menu pops up where you can alter the video resolution, aspect ratio and size. Note that the settings on different phones may differ, adjust the settings to your preferences. Finally touch the Save button to save the video as a new video in the selected new resolution, aspect ratio and size on your LG mobile.
