Logitech G29 Shifter controls under City Car Driving automatic transmissions mode

The 3D Instructor or City Car Driving is one of the most popular car driving simulators and PC games. There are times you may need to switch between Manual and Automatic transmissions and you may run into problems with the joystick you have, such as the Logitech Driving Force Shifter. A driving shifter bring you a more realistic experience. However we found there are some incompatibility issues between the City Car Driving and Logitech Drive Force Shifter. For example, the game can only simulate the manual gearshift or shifter but not the automatic gear shift or transmission. You can run City Car Driving game, go to its Settings >> Controls and enable “automatic clutch” from there. But you will find the reverse gear does not work any more. The reverse gear in the manual transmission mode turns out to be the parking brake. Gear 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 may not work like before. For example, 1st gear in the manual transmission mode may be the N shift in the automatic transmission mode, the 2nd gear in the manual transmission mode may be the D shift in the automatic transmission mode, etc. The workaround is to set the previous shift and next shift using the Logitech G29 steering wheel or the Logitech Driving Force Shifter. Optionally you can also use those working shift-level controls with the Driving Force Shifter to directly access specific gears, and then use the sequential lever to quickly access previous or next gear.

In case of switching gears under the automatic transmission mode you need to start the engine first, press and hold the brake pedal, then switch to the gear using the Next gear\Previous gear keys on the keyboard or Driving Force Shifter to do it.
