Transfer iTunes media to Android

iTunes is a media player, iOS device manager and also an online store. To send music and other files from computer to iPhone iPad iPod, you can add the media files to iTunes library first, then sync them to your iOS device. However iTunes works with Apple devices only. You can’t use it to sync music and other files to Android devices. In this guide we will show you different ways to transfer music and movies from iTunes to any Android phone or tablet.

Copy iTunes media to Android phones manually

iTunes has its folder to save media files. You can activate the ‘Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library’ so when you add a music or video to iTunes, the source files will be copied from their original folder to iTunes media folder. If this option was disabled, your music or videos will be saved in the original location other than iTunes media folder. In this case you need to consolidate files in iTunes first. In this way, you can quickly put all songs and movies in iTunes libraries into the iTunes media folder. We have explained this issue from this guide to backup iTunes music to external hard drive. To transfer iTunes media to Android is just like how you export iTunes media to a portable hard drive or USB disk.

The default iTunes media folder can be found in the following location:

  • Windows Vista or later: \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music
  • Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music

It can be changed by yourself. To find the current iTunes media folder, go to Edit >> Preferences… >> Advanced >> iTunes Media folder location.

Plug your Android phone (or tablet) into your PC via USB. Enable the MTP mode for transferring files. Run the File Explorer on your PC to open folders on your Android device, create a new folder. Then open another window in File Explorer, browse to the above iTunes media folder, copy the iTunes song and videos to the new folder on your Android phone or tablet.
