I am trying to import the Windows virtual machine, an OVA file downloaded from Microsoft, into my virtualization software VirtualBox on Mac, but while importing I am getting the following error:
Failed to import appliance /User/…./Downloads/WinDev2110Eval.ova. Details Result Code: NS_ERROR_INVALID_ARG (0x80070057).
I tried several solutions such as deleted the VirtualBox Virtual Machine base folder, deselected the Import hard drives as VDI option, etc. After hours of investigations, the problem is basic, inefficient free storage space on the hard drive. It seems a warning popped out asking me to clear some large files as the storage is almost full, but I just closed and ignored it. After deleting some large videos, movies, zip archives, DMG files and then emptied the trash bin, I managed to import the Windows virtual machine to VirtualBox on Mac. So if you don’t have enough storage space on your drive, you can get this error when importing virtual machines into VirtualBox. The above error is caused due to there is not enough space on the disk to create the VM files on my Mac.
